Well, yesterday if you was shrewd enough, Washington Square was number one, but only carried, 52kgs, after the allowance. Was backed down from 8/1 to 3/1. Came home in a canter. Recently claiming apprentices are making their allowance count.

You do realize that the fact that the horse was number 1 has absolutely no relation to it's weight, and definitely not whether you were shrewd enough to see that or not?

I did start this whole topic. If I stated the number it was carded and thereafter the weight, it will tell you I do know it has no relation. Right at the beginning of the topic I did state weights will no longer be in descending order. Normally number one is the highest carded weight and if you not aware about the new change then it would have been difficult for that punter to know its actual weight if you browsing quickly.

The point for some is that the new system was implemented without any regard for the local punter and clearly yesterday only benefited the "shrewd, those in know and bookmakers". Only one tote favourite won a MR race yesterday so i don't know who benefits from a favourite strike rate of 16%.
But what the hell, make it more difficult for the average punter. GC continue to do as they please because punters accept everything they dish out.......Didn't get a red cent of mine yesterday.
Was interesting to watch the interview with Mary Liley yesterday, it was devoid of innuendo's, clever jibes or corrections designed to embarrass the interviewee but then again just another reflection of whats acceptable.

In 40 years of punting I have NEVER heard a punter ask for this change - absolute disregard for customers and complete arrogance -

Why is it easier to follow the horses while they running, surely you follow jockeys colours and not saddle cloth numbers? The most stupid decision i have ever seen & why are Hollywoodbets dictating to Gold circle?

In one way form study is much easier. Particularly when there are multiple scratchings it is much easier to glance which runners are re-drawn inwards. With the traditional system one has to jump around the carded field.

Whoever sanctioned this new format for Kzn racing, quite clearly DOES NOT study form. This could be one of the worst changes made in South African Racing history.I would be taking a break from punting on Kzn race meetings for the next 3months.
