Hear they are thinking about running today’s abandoned races on Wednesday and shifting Greyville to Friday night. Anyone confirm?

MEETING MAY BE RE-SCHEDULED WEATHER PERMITTING

The KwaZulu-Natal Stakes (Listed), an important warm-up for sprinting fillies leading into Champions Season, fell foul of the weather a fortnight back and again today when the Scottsville meeting was abandoned after the running of the first race when a jockey’s protest of inconsistent going was upheld.
However, in an effort to keep the meeting and run the race, Gold Circle are contemplating moving the eight races lost at Scottsville today to Scottsville, Wednesday, April 18, weather permitting, and moving the Greyville poly meeting scheduled for that Wednesday to Friday night, April 20.
Yesterday, after deliberations in the stipendiary steward’s boardroom, head stipe Shaun Parker called for a track inspection. After a lengthy inspection of both the straight course and the track around the turn, it was decided to call the meeting off.
The official stipendiary stewards report reads: Following the running of the first race, the riders expressed concerns regarding inconsistencies in the heavy underfoot track condition and lodged a protest in terms of the rules. The panel was formed and having heard all the evidence presented by the trainer and jockey representatives and following a track inspection, it was decided in the interest of safety to abandon the remainder of the race meeting.

The KwaZulu-Natal Stakes (Listed), an important warm-up for sprinting fillies leading into Champions Season, fell foul of the weather a fortnight back and again on Sunday when the Scottsville meeting was abandoned after the running of the first race after a jockey’s protest citing uneven going on a track rated ‘heavy’.
Gold Circle Racing Executive, Raf Sheik, said that in an effort to keep the meeting and run the race, Gold Circle have moved the eight races lost on Sunday to Scottsville, Wednesday, April 18, weather permitting, and have moved the Greyville poly meeting scheduled for Wednesday to Friday night, April 20.
A panel, including Gold Circle officials, trainers and jockeys will inspect the Scottsville track on Tuesday, April 17, at 2pm and make a decision as to whether the track has dried out sufficiently for the meeting to go ahead.
The weather forecast for the next three days is set fair.
In the opinion of the panel, if the track has not dried out sufficiently, the meeting will be moved to the Greyville poly track.
Herewith amended starting times:

SCOTTSVILLE WEDNESDAY 18 APRIL MOVED TO GREYVILLE POLYTRACK

Washed out a fortnight ago and postponed again after the first race at Scottsville on Sunday, the KwaZulu-Natal Stakes (Listed) meeting appears jinxed.
The balance of Sunday’s eight-race card was rescheduled for Scottsville Wednesday, April 18, however after a track inspection this afternoon, Tuesday, April 17, a decision was taken to move the meeting to the Greyville Polytrack. The Greyville meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been moved to Friday night.

Gold Circle Racing Executive, Raf Sheik, said the Scottsville track had not dried out sufficiently. “The panel decided that rather than doing irreparable damage to the turf on the eve of Champions Season, it was agreed by the majority of the inspection panel that the meeting be moved to the poly track.”

The inspection panel consisted of Raf Sheik, trainers Duncan Howells, Paul Gadsby, Louis Goosen, Tony Rivalland, Jockeys Warren Kennedy, Jarred Samuel, Athandiwe Mgudlwa, Chief Stipendiary Steward, Shaun Parker and Scottsville track manager Michael Ndlovu.

NB: A Barrier Trial has been added to the Programme and will be run at 12:15. Fields available on-line.

Race2 off at 12:50. Exotic bets remain as carded. All tote bets struck on the Scottsville meeting will be refunded because of the change of venue.
