.....was at the morgue yesterday.....will attend the funeral on Tuesday....plenty good horses....but alas not many buyers......car park relatively occupied.....but mainly breeders, agents and support staff......numerous trainers....if breeders dont release stock to low bids.....leasing will be a preferred option......

I tipped the CTS sale would be poor and although the NYS sale has a superior
catalogue it is still going to be a buyers market
There are just not enough buyers

.....ah now the penny has dropped about the select session which is not the 1st day 170 lots....but
falls over to day 2 and includes lots up to 230....cleverly woven in are the dams in alphabetical order so one does not notice until the end of day 3.....this minimum bid is going to ensure no stealing for the first 230 and not 170 as mentioned which failed to make sense.....but I agree with Easy....the market conditions and lack of buyers are going to see plenty not solds and buy backs in this select session....I am very glad that a slight accident on earlier on Sunday morning prevented me from walking the yard and pulling out some of those lots in the 1st 230 as I put tags on them at way below R100K...thought a steal or 2 but will see how desperate the breeder wants to let go after day 2...

i dont see the difference between having a min bid of 100k or the seller having a reserve put on his yearling as it will lead to the same outcome but will save plenty time starting off at 100k than the bidspotter taking bids out of fresh air ..many sales are between you and the auctioneer with the auctioneer pushing you up to the reserve and then pulling out..many of these yearlings at the sales will have reserves exceeding 100k anyway so dont think for 1 minute that you will get your horse for the 100k min bid .

.....Lee Scribante is the new Chairman.... but none of his draft of 14 fall in the magic 230...so obviously not his brainchild....think that the TBA/BSA were trying to pull a similar pattern as the CTS to please the bigger farms where these horses will be sure to get action above ZAR100K.....however some hopeful okes not in that league have paid the premium hoping to snag bigger bids.... but honestly on or off paper many of these will not attract that type of interest and will need to be discussed on day 3 when the breeder tries to balance his P&L....
