He will be aimed at the big wfa race in jhb if they decide to travel and the champions cup end of July (same races as captain america and legal eagle )
I think he will go very very close to winning this year should he stay. Many had questioned KZN runners in up for the Cape season which alot of the fancy really did fluff their lines ie.Bill silver and sand and sea howe've Last winter had two cracking good runs and is maturing quiet nicely
Should he stay and hope he skips the triple crown and Jhb season as I agree with Karma 100% he gonna take some beating.
Well this is just my thoughts
i was under the impression that the kannemeyer stable was cape based, last winter is owned by khaya(laidlaw) and i thought dean had a sattelite yard in kzn.be that as it may,i don't think that last winter will beat the 3yr olds any time soon,as the met was his best chance and he got beat by a 3yr old filly.the filly has plenty of improvement to come from now until the durban season and i don't think any horse racing in sa at the moment will beat her over 2000m or further.that is just my opinion and of course we will never know, but thi 3yr old crop of fillies look very special to me and it seems that our breeders have upped there game and now producing international class horses.

you want to get a 3yr old in the July with a rating of 102-110 - you don't want to go in like poor Abba with a 117 -

Mr h, pls excuse my possibly slow grasp of things, but wouldn't that mean a horse should not attempt the triple crown as his MR rating would rise... Eg (LTK and Abishiri)....
What my point is, if Magestic Mambo is that good, based on prior history, they would not go the triple crown route....

The best Gauteng(it is open to all though) 3yr old wins the TC - The best handicapped horse can win the July (not the best horse)- There is a July winner every year but a TC winner hardly ever - It depends on what the owner wants - if you have the right horse try to win the TC and then if you are too high in the MR for the July try to win it as a 4yr old and skip the race at 3 - Horses like Dunford and Space Walk (Hunting Tower)have won the July but only top top horses can win a TC(though sometimes I think it takes so much out of them that they take ages to recover especially fillies who contest all three legs of the TT)

The TC series is a great pointer - Pomodoro, Al Saheem, Igugu, Legal Eagle(very unlucky in the July) etc zirconiuem English Garden etc
And also Greys Inn. In fact he had a harder route than Abashiri. Abashiri's route going into the July was phish.

Interesting discussion
The triple crown vs the July
It is much the same in the UK
Triple crown vs ARC
The St Leger is the last leg and fairly close to the ARC and was also a bridge too far for Nijinsky

The TC series brings excitement and some up and coming talent to the fore which is exactly what we need for racing in SA.
