Don wrote: now see what debate this Bolt has caused? imagine if we could do this in general public, by general public, about our equine runners in the MET. AIMING FOR THAT!!! Would like for the horses to be public information so general that ANYONE can debate their merit in the race...!

you live in cape town? If so why dont you go down to one of the sign companies and see if you could hire space on billboards around the peninsula advertising the met. Millions will see it on their way to work etc. I used to be in advertising and the power of it is immense especially when people see it for the first time, the bolder and brighter the better.

I agree with Robyn on this - I’m not knocking it (I know, right?). He is a big deal and it might be fun. The big question for me is exactly what and how he will be contributing to the day itself. – racing is not an easy sport to wrap your head around, so one imagines he’s unlikely to be quizzed on his selections. Also, as he is obviously being paid to attend, it’s unlikely that he will be back again in 2019, so what legacy will he be leaving? In other words, how will he be building up the day and the sport and leaving it better than it was, or from a more mercenary perspective, what kind of ROI can we expect?

Bob - Quote - Look at Bolt on Sunday, he was special presenter at the F1 and that’s huge compared with the Met.

Just food for thought

"Figures distributed by Formula 1 confirmed that a record 185,000 spectators were at Monza during the course of the weekend to watch, which is up 32.8 per cent on 2016 attendance figures, and a 15.7 per cent increase on the previous attendance record at the venue that dates back to 2000 during the Michael Schumacher era.

F1 commercial chief Sean Bratches said, “It’s the first time I’ve attended the Italian Grand Prix and I was amazed by the incredible passion of the crowd, which had come to Monza from all corners of the globe.”

“The record numbers confirm just how much Formula 1 captures people’s imagination. An increase of a third over the 2016 crowds and a 15.7 per cent improvement over the previous record are incredible numbers.”

“I would like to say a special thank you to everyone who sat out in the grandstands in the pouring rain on Saturday, waiting for the track conditions to improve enough for F1 qualifying and the F2 race to be run.

“This passion is a great incentive to work harder still to put on an even better show for the fans who follow this sport all over the world,” added F1 commercial boss Bratches.

Conclusion

Bolt did not attend in Italy - Its all up to the Administration and Operators - One man cant change the world.

Bolt is in Melbourne for a holiday and is expected to attend the Birdcage, Flemington, this Saturday on Derby Day. (He must be a racing man :) )
