1. It has just won a maiden and is taking on some hard knockers with good form on a higher level.
2. It was not fancied on its debut and drifted from 7/1 to 17/2 albeit from a wide draw.
3. The second horse on the day started 5/10 in its next start and got beat by a very average horse then won its next start against a poor field imvho
Unless the inside info is something compelling, I can not make this a banker but all the best
OTA
Agreed... First run out of a maiden win is always an issue. I really have reservations about that as well. If QP wins then it has to be an exceptional horse. Although I have backed it on the nose, I am including the 1 and the 2 in the P6
Here's why i think Queen's Plain will win - no seconds.
I think the pace will be on in the race, but whether a fast or slow pace, i don't think QP will be inconvenienced either way.
Flying Silver might not stay the distance. Hasn't been the most reliable from the jump and granted not a big field with the scratchings, but one is never comfortable with horses who lose ground at the start irrespective of the distance or field size. It's more stressful for the punter than the jockey because the record is there for all to see.
Fantasy Lady is the one i feel is the biggest danger to Q Plain, reason being, Lerena could try and steal the race jumping from stall gate 2. Wherever F Silver runs, F Lady will finish ahead of her.
Queen's Plain's debut win looks a win full of merit. First time round the turn, drawn 12/15, loses 2 lengths, (I'll practice what I preach shortly, don't get excited) and still wins by 2.00 lengths going away. Regards losing lengths at the start, well we will know whether this is a pattern or whether it was a case of first day at school blues. You might say Q Plain is out at the WFA scale, however whilst the two mentioned above are rated 83 and 82 respectively, question, are these rating achieved over the distance and are they running to those ratings? Q Plain on the other hand could be better than rated, prime example was Know The Ropes at Kenilworth yesterday. Think you can see where I'm heading with this. I'm firmly in the Queen's Plain camp.
The balance are just making up the numbers.
Exacta : 7 X 2.

You not concerned that Flying Silver ran her 1400m a full 1,6 sec faster then Queens Plain and there is still the matter of the 3kg weight advantage QP had

That's actually the winner's time (of the race you looking at), not Flying Silver's time. FOR ME, time's are misleading beyond the sprint distances, and to prove the point, check when and where the fastest times are set in South Africa - during the winter time on the Highveld, when the "good sorts" are competing in KZN.
Without labouring the issue, i just think Queen's Plain is open to any amount of improvement, not sure how much scope for improvement 5 year olds have. We got to take a stand somewhere on the card i guess.

I'm prepared to concede the time issue (well done), but it's not something i loose sleep over which i admitted above and without seeing your attachment. Break a leg with your selection.

My value bet today is Connect Me in the last race. Good debut and showed solid improvement to win maiden. With further improvement will be hard to beat. 14/1 great odds.
It's a bit surprising that she can sprint as the dam stayed well.
