Re: Hat Puntano
7 years 8 months ago.....OK it was not a slight niggle....the horse actually faltered when spreading a shoe but the horse was never comfortable being chased from the jump and pushed up to be in contention..... but instead lacked early pace and forced to race wide.....in his previous races he was put to sleep and ridden cold behind cover...and then pulled out to make winning runs.... :oops:Muhtiman wrote:....problem is that if the jock feels the slightest niggle he may not persevere..... :whistle:Lionel wrote: The confidence of the jockey is an indication of this horses ability. I hope he does well here.

I think it's next run will shed more light on the horses true potential...only 2nd run after a rest excuse might creep in....
Anyone know if Hat was taken to the course for a gallop before it's run?

Yes, he has had a visit to the course since arriving at the Azzie yard.

In the first instance , spreading a shoe in running and the subsequent impact on the horses stride, could have been interpreted by the jockey as a physical problem, some accounts state the Jockey pulled the horse out of the race - horse was pecked on the bend, and found itself in the wrong place to execute the stable's game plan.
The stable is quite aware of the the fact that the end goal is as stallion, and thus there is " a reputation to protect".
I don't think Hat Puntano's future prospects at stud will be well served by too many more "easy look-see races".
I am sure the next time he comes to the track, he will be ready.

Any idea when we can expect Hat to run again?

The best horse doesn't always win the race.

Well the verdict is still out....We will all have a better idea after it's next run barring any excuses.
