they should stop fining these morons and rather hit them with these so called Whips that dont hurt the horses then we can see if these whips are so harmless .....
Debi, u are posting with your heart on your sleeve. Should jockeys be given a whip.....or not? That is the question...otherwise everything else becomes subjective. For the record I find the word 'whip' IMMEDIATELY offensive...as no animal (except the useless human species) should be whipped.

When it comes to Thoroughbreds my Heart is always on my sleeve ...
As they cannot talk and very few ever try to talk for them so I try now and again but normally end up being shot down so most of he time I shut up ....
What really makes me upset is often horses that are hit really hard during a race go SOUR and so does their racing career ? I realize thats one of the reasons I was not a very successful Owner cared too much and not many in racing like you if you care ... that is just my humble opinion in my experience ,so please everybody out there dont attack me or threaten to sue me

Debi, normally nothing to do with the owner ??? I personally hate the use of the crop and have often told my jock not to punish my horse or else  They try their best and don't need to be hit. Believe me, in this industry, people that care are all around and definitely no shortage of them. Like in life, there are always the exceptions.

IMO he used to be such a balanced rider, now days more interested in using the whip than keeping horse balanced

Hogwash. He's vigorous, but just waved the crop in his right hand over the last 50.

That's right. 17% win rate. He's been pulling the other 83% right?

The horse must have just drifted from one side of the track to the other from ‘ crop waving ‘
