He should have been forced to pay training fees and loss of stakes to the owners he duped. Forget big owners leaving... this type of behavior does so much damage... the drugs were not therapeutic but were performance enhancing.

I cannot believe that the Jockey Club can impose a fine of this magnitude. Whilst I am aware that there are confirmed cases of positives found, my question is simple, when do you reach the point that you expel undesirables from your club? Do we have a situation that the Jockey Club would rather have financial benefits to balance the books than maintain the integrity they are apparently custodians of?

I have belonged to Golf clubs for 40 years, and believe me have never heard of a member get an exorbitant fine for a serious infringement of the rules. If the transgression is serious enough suspension or expulsion are the only options. It is my belief that the Jockey Club do not have the legal "muscle" to expel licenced members as they will lose their case when this is appealed in a civil court. I do not understand why this institution still exists, it needs to be replaced by a governmental authority.

When I saw 650k, I thought this is about the most disreputable racing news I have ever seen. We know what is normal and what a fine is supposed to do.

It's shocking and unbelievable. You realize there has been indusrial grade cheating and it is going to leave scars. However people rephrase this, no one will want to forgive anything this big, they will want it gone.

So what happens now ?
Does the money get paid and business as normal, can the money be paid?
