Race 1: Howells has a strong hand with the stable jockey on Baron Bellet, which is my selection to win, with back up from Gingerbread Man. The Great Victory and Varadiso should improve from useful debuts. First timer Kimberley has Marcus up so must be respected.
Race 2: Joy to Joy is the one to beat, and Black Hall Bar has good form and should challenge. We have Ideal Lady running and she has come on nicely from a pleasing debut. We expect her to run into the first three. Hour Glass, Peggy's Dream and Cybele Forest are all bred to relish the extra ground. Quartet 1,5,6/1,5,6/1,4,5,6/1,2,4,5,6,7
Race 3: Speed of Africa is the selection in a competitive race. Crowd Pleaser should go close. Legend has a poor draw to contend with but has strong form. The Stag King and Starsky could run into the money.

Race 4: Fromafar looks the right one in a very open race if bouncing back from a disappointing performance last time. Skip a Beat and Chestnuts n Pearls look the main dangers.
Race 5: Free State has Victoria Lavelle held at the weights on their run on 1st May, and is my first choice here. Rock on Baby loves this course and is the main danger in a closely handicapped race.
Race 6: Nightingale looks hard to oppose, but not much value at the price. Gathering Fame looks exceptional ew value at 14/1 and is my first choice of the older F&Ms.
Race 7: There isn't much between the three year olds with a marginal preference for Cape Speed. The question marks over the match fitness of a number of the older runners makes this a very difficult race. Storm Warning has been consistent and is selected for that reason. Wavin Flag and Killua Castle are well in at best but the latter has been below par the past few months and WF has only had one run after his rest and this looks like a prep for the Gold Cup. Marcus has chosen Disco Al over Coltrane but neither look prepped for this.

going to take my chances with tafferty tart today..her last 3 runs she has been drawn in the carpark..her last 2 runs at greyville she was so wide for most of the race she ended up in the braai zone area at greyville..her 3rd run back and her stable jockey back on she will be at her peak and will overturn the form with fromafar ..im expecting zante to set a fair gallop so it doesn't turn out to be a crawl crawl sprint although she has a good turn of foot ..straight after her maiden win she has contested 5 straight feature races and this yards horses improve with age so a big run expected ..7 to 2 fair price

A sad situation IMO............what used to be two 3yr old classics,on a great course, now two ordinary races on a country track!
