With the amount of jealousy in that region,I wouldn't be surprised if the horse was GOT at by outside influences.
If the level of banned substance is very high, that's a give away to a GOT at scenario.

savasp, don't think you meant harm, don't have you down as a "troublemaker" historically bud. But there was a possible inference that you were linking the big priced winners with something more by posting it on this thread. Think you've possibly seen the error and imo have made your apologies, fair play and hopefully it will rest there bud :)

For the record, I think 5 of the last 9 Sham winners have been priced at 8s or higher, but none as big as 20s, depends what you think is a big price really. That said, look down the odds of the last 100 Sham runners on Formgrids and you will see that few start at lower than 5s. Results do not reflect badly on the stable imo.

I`m friends with the Shams, so not going to comment too much BUT they only pleaded guilty to a horse in their care being positive...

Nothing else !

www.sportingpost.co.za/2016/06/nha-d-a-s...-mrs-d-a-sham-fined/

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an Inquiry was held at its Regional Office in Port Elizabeth on 15 June 2016.

Trainer, Mrs D A Sham was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that she was the Trainer responsible for the horse FLAMING ACE who ran in and won the 5th race at Fairview Racecourse on 28 March 2016, after which a urine specimen taken from this horse, disclosed upon analysis, the presence of Dexamethasone, which is a prohibited substance in terms of Rule 73.4, read with sub rule 73.4.2.1 of The National Horseracing Authority.

National Horseracing AuthorityMrs D A Sham pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found Mrs D A Sham guilty and imposed a penalty of R40 000, of which R20 000 is wholly suspended for a period of 24 months, provided that she is not found guilty of a contravention of any rule relating to prohibited substances during that period.

FURTHERMORE IN TERMS OF RULE 72.3.2 FLAMING ACE IS DISQUALIFIED FROM THE 5TH RACE RUN AT FAIRVIEW RACECOURSE ON 28 MARCH 2016 AND THE PROVISIONS OF RULE 67.7.8 APPLY.

Being a punter ......from a punters perspective I have made money often when Shams horses win.
Their comments on first call are informative and I never leave out kz/ sham combination..
Hope this was a once off mistake and all good now....

Even as a punter we don't want any trainer having an advantage over another because we all love this sport.
If there is evidence of prolonged use of banned substances by any trainer intentionally then that trainer must be banned for life from this game we love.

I said we would respond to the POSITIVE once enquiry was over . We pled guilty to being the "person in charge" which you have to under NHA rules. We would like to thank those that have supported us through this stressful time.
The horse had a very hi level of dexa which indicates he was given the injection within 4/5 hours of his race. There is no way we would do that so the horse was "got at"
However over the last 4 years I have been complaining about lack of security at Fairview and saying that a trainer can be set up easily or be attacked in the yard.
This has been brought up to Phumelela and NHA many times in meetings and face to face with stipes and management.
The enquiry is done and over, we have repaid our stakes and will be paying the fine but my hunt for the culprit is definitely not over.

I am employing a private investigator to followup on this and some derogatory emails been sent from unnamed people who are too gutless and jealous to come out and have their say.
