World rugby has confirmed that Joubert made the wrong call. He will now be sent home. Enjoy referring Currie Cup and club matches for the foreseeable future. So much for those experts in your studio hey neigh

maybe we should just clarify that the ref IS NOT ALLOWED TO REFER to the tmo as the technology can only be used for the act of scoring a try or an act of foul play ..as stu Wilson joel stransky and George gregan said its a disgrace at the abuse he has received as he called it as he saw it without all the help the critics have ...

Long overdue, his handling of the 2011 final was absolutely shameful
. world rugby defended him then.. Better late than never, hope he refs Currie cup and varsity cup for the rest of his life..

Strange then that he asked for the tmo when Maitland tried to intercept and then he saw fit to give the yellow card as he saw it as a deliberate knock on which it was not. If he had any doubt re the penalty he should have given the scrum. He even watched the replay on the big screen and still failed to overturn his call. For one of the best refs in the world his mistake is baffling as he was within 5 yards of the action and he was well positioned to see it. If he was on the opposite side then you can understand his call.

Pirates,I think he made a lot of errors..
Some of These officials that referee at the top level become to arrogant and think they are faultless..IE Steve Walsh and our very own Mike Dean for football..
Even when they are shown to be wrong, they still think they are right.
That call had to go upstairs,it's The World Cup for gods sake.

I agree dtf but world rugby has come out with a statement saying it wasn't allowed to be referred for the above reasons I stated...

An Englishman, Welshman and two old SA players. haha I think this penalty he gave was one of his iffy calls, however to many other major stuff ups during the game. The penalty at that stage of the game was critical, had it been at any other stage of the game nothing would have come of it.
Hope he doesn't ref our local final because he always picks on WP :silly:
One prick making a wrong decision changes the hopes of a whole nation. :( Needs to change with all the technology we have.
Done and dusted, unfortunately it wont change anything.
