Punters being screwed

Continually by

inconsistent horses

Bad rides

Bent trainers

Useless stipes

Bookies

Why do we still feed them ? would you go back for a sandwich if the bread was stale every time ?

Lastnight for example a Cripled horse was allowed to run and why did the last winner keep the race ?

replay

Under the current rules I just think that I have ZERO idea on Objections anymore - On this I wonder how the July Objection could ever have been upheld?

Mr H this is why i dont understand the rules, lastnights bump looked far more serious imo, although the winner was probably the better horse

But i thought Wylie hall was the better horse in the july

Bob I thought I understood the rules but clearly I don't - After watching a few these last two or three months I think the fairest system is to toss a coin after the race. If I was able to bet on recent objections/ race reviews (even one later on July night) I would be OUT. Far easier to pick a winner in a Cape Stayers race than to predict the outcome of an objection and that is WRONG!!! You cannot have the most important aspect of a race, the winner, being decided subjectively. Yes other sports do give umpires and refs a certain amount of leeway BUT nothing is as certain and final as the result of an objection. Yes in rugby you may get a red or yellow card or get penalized for an infringement but the ref cannot at the end of the match reverse the scores. Here we must have clarity and finality in these rules. We cannot have the this week in and out without the credibility of the game going to the dogs!!

we backed the winner also, thats why i noticed it more, if i had a ticket it would have been ripped up and in the bin  :woohoo:

I also backed the winner of ho`oponpo`s race as a saver so no damage done

I`m sure i heard Kevin Shea comment on it, he had never seen a horse move so bad to the start

Remember and Old Work Collegue of mine who also enjoyed playing the Ponies and he would call it. and he always use to say.. out comes of Objections and Race reviews always depended on which horse the Stipes had in their P6 and Jackpots..

I never saw oponpo so can't comment. I was on the 2nd in the last and though I think the winner was going the better there was so little between them at the line that I felt sure it should be over-turned (especially as the winner would have continued to veer without the second helping him out!!), but I am like Mr H, I turned off the computer and went before hearing the outcome as I already "knew" what it would be, if I think it should go one way then for sure it will go the other!

the objection in the last race was overruled which is a really joke because if you watch the head on the Jockey of the winner beside bumping the second horse he also hit the whip of the second jockey....how was this objection overruled....serious inconsistency with the Stipes...

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SA) :
DANCINGWITHJACKSON (*N Patel), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo advised. (TN)
DANCINGWITHJACKSON (*N Patel) hanging in, shifted in, in the latter stages, despite Apprentice N Patel attempts to keep this gelding on a straight course.
LUCKY BREAK (K de Melo) shifted independently from DANCINGWITHJACKSON (*N Patel). Thereafter DANCINGWITHJACKSON (*N Patel) shifted in which resulted in the crop of Jockey K de Melo the rider of LUCKY BREAK being accidentally struck from his hand and LUCKY BREAK (K de Melo) being brushed and carried inwards shortly before the finish.
A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward which was followed by an objection was lodged by Jockey K de Melo, the rider of LUCKY BREAK, placed second against the winner, DANCINGWITHJACKSON (*N Patel) on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After viewing the patrol videos from the various angles and considering the evidence, the Board was of the opinion that but for the interference LUCKY BREAK (K de Melo) would not have beaten DANCINGWITHJACKSON (*N Patel) and therefore overruled the objection. The Judge’s result was allowed and the deposit refunded.
