If you believe these times horses are twice as quick as the top 400m runners, and that's with them not being asked

Firstly for me I think the track looks very suspect - maybe they should have had the July as the only race on the turf, because imo the turf track is going to take a hammering on the day.
The times taken is also confusing, as not every horse galloped / worked over the same distance - and for me personally I do not really make them a factor in my selection process.
Most interesting remark imo came from Mike de Kock, saying that he thought the 3 yr olds had something to find against the older horses - based on handicaps where the 3 yr olds did not really come to the fore when running against their elders - I'm not really sure to which runners / races he is referring, but I agree with oscar in that one needs to take note of what he is saying.
At the moment I think the field is divided between the 3 yr olds and the older horses; there is really not much between the 3 yr old colts at the weights, and similarly (looking at the BW 1900) I don't think there is much between the older horses like Espumanti, Punta Arenas and Halve the Deficit and also maybe extending this group to COTT and Jet Belle (who did not put up a great gallop imo)
So the answer to the question of which age group is superior should determine where you are looking for the winner, and to me at the moment nothing has convinced me either way - so I am officially confused.
Then there is the question of who is going to set the pace - no natural front runner that I can see, so maybe King of Payne will be allowed to set his own fractions again - and then the question is going to be which jock is going to have the foresight (if he gets it right) or the stupidity (if he gets it wrong) to go past KoP and take the bull by the horns - bearing in mind that a slowish pace is not going to suit many horses like Legislate, Louis the King, etc. - so that leaves me even more confused.
So at the moment imo, the odds on the top 6 look very cramped - with the possible exception of Captain America - who has every chance at the weights, but is trading at double the odds of Legislate and LTK - also nothing wrong with his gallop this morning, so if anyone ask me right now, I'd say that CA is the best value currently (and I don't have a cent on him - yet).

exciting news regarding sectional timing....theres a company called sports track thats being used by gold circle to do sectional timing...each horse will have a micro chip in its saddle cloth and there will be receivers throughout the track...and as they pass each beacon...it will pick up their exact times...also when we see hong kong and singapore racing u can see where each horse is with their colours on the monitor...thats also to be implemented with this system....just coming back to todays gallops...the 800-fininsh was done with a flag start timing(so it could be dodgy.)..but the 400 to finish was done with this system and its down to 100th of a second accurate
