if the aussies get to 400 then that's that as batting on the 4th and 5th days is going to be very difficult as the pitch will crack up because of the hot weather that Cape town has had

Moisture around overnight and tomorrow.... should get movement and reverse swing... BUT ... by then they will be well on their way to 400.
I reckon day three and four we should be able to bat for ever... take the ddraw now

Oh dear, Steyn has gone off the field. I hope there's not something amiss with him.

Without Dale Steyn leading our attack that will be a very tall order! Morkel is aggressive but not our strike bowler

I predicted a draw in PE after the first day and it finished in 4 days :
But I have to admit that it looks very difficult for us to win this - we are already probably looking at a draw at best - and of course then the series is drawn - would maybe not be such a bad outcome after the debacle in Centurion

the money is in the 20/20. Pack them in for a few hours for three matches and, excuse the pun, the bucks roll in

I think the Aussies will be more circumspect today and try and get a score in the region of 550/600, and only bat once in the match. The commentators were saying the pitch was very dry and cracks are inevitably going to appear. On the other hand, I could be horribly wrong.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

SA can expect some very hostile bowling from Johnson when they go into bat (more so than usual). No way Clarke forgets about the torrid time he underwent at crease from short pitched, aggressive bowling. Just hope our captain can guts it out like Clarke and not just throw his wicket away AGAIN!

One bowler short means that best SA can hope for is draw...not going to be able to bowl Aus out with only three genuine bowlers...shows the value of having 5 genuine bowlers if intent is to win a Test match...
Agree that Aus will only bat once and then pressure will be on us to survive two innings over 3 days...Smith / Peterson will be continue to be clueless fearful against new ball and that will put pressure on Amla (again), du Plessis and de Villiers...going to be a hard grind...
We remain hopeful though underlying problems in team will not be going away...they have just been laid low by the win in PE against a Aus team with their own batting problems...
Kyle Abbott has been good with little luck, Philander not the same bowler without Steyn at the other end and Morkel, though aggressive, was not impressive as it has not resulted in wickets...only thing that matters not how many times you hit the batsmen...
And Smith's disinterest / indifference has been evident for some time...fish rots from the head...leader determines culture of team...and leadership is currently lacking...
Enjoy...
