So many opions on so many subjects and so little time to state MO on them.

IMVHO Cape Racing suffers from an abundance of elitism and provincialism. With all the BIG Owners/Breeders in the Cape why are the Fields so small, because they can afford for their Horses to just stand in the Stables. KZN run a very close second wrt provincialism.

IMO Racing is no more just a sport but BIG BUSINESS which is funded by us PUNTERS and major Commercial enterprises Sponsorships. So if the economical hub of the RSA is in Gauteng why not cater for your biggest possible cliental market wtf would any Company spend all their sponsorship money in the Cape, the mind boggles. It would be very interesting to see independant AUDITED results of where the PUNTERS money comes from that keeps this Racing industry wheels turning.

I have stated on another thread on this site of me trying to introduce new participants to Racing. An example is of my own Son and his friends/associates that I tried to get involved, not only in Punting but also Ownership. Today they are all successful Professionals in their careers BUT not one has taken up this game I love. Why???? because although they understand the intricasies involved (Form, effects of wts, barrier draw, Going, Innoculations, etc, etc,) there is just not enough TRANSPARENCY and FEEDBACK from the controlling bodies.

If Horse Racing (and Society) is to survive then we need to get back to the basics of DISCIPLINE and enforce it.

Not too sure where u get that info from....NO owner anywhere in the world wants their horses to stand in the box...we all want to race. They are NOT machines though and if you owned one you would know what is actually involved in a racehorses daily life....just to get him to a race day takes a huge amount of time, effort, planning etc......

@Neigh..... your point about the tote facilities is spot on... and I cannot for the life of me understand why they do not franchise the farking things out. Independent owners whose livelihood depends on turnover and happy customers will uplift the TAB's image tenfold .

Point taken Western Explorer. BTW I have Bred, Owned and Raced Horses in the past so I am aware of a lot of the problems that can and do occur. Was not having a go at Cape Owners but only my subjective observations which may be way off the mark or real in some cases.

Hahaha I walk into my local tote today, three fans have been provided. Two of which are blowing on their employees and the spare one in the middle of no where. Thank goodness I have a sense of humor !! Very weak attempt. Shame !!
