Is this not supposed to be South Africas premier race track?

In a bitter twist of irony, yet another Greyville night meeting has been disrupted in generally good weather conditions. And this time the jockeys are holding discussions with the operator.

The difficulties with the Greyville track are slowly developing into a nightmare for Gold Circle on the eve of their Champions Season and the jolt comes as punters digested the shocking news this week that Tellytrack may disappear from our television screens at the end of March.

Jockey disruptions and delays to race meetings are simply bad for business. MORE

To say this was generally good weather conditions is like saying Ronaldo is a generally good player.

It's just bitterly disappointing to see the race meeting cancelled. From the tone of Graeme Hawkins he certainly felt the same way, and of the opinion that the course was good enough and that they had made efforts to make sure. If the jocks are to blame for what is alleged as an impasse, then it stunning they can get away with this. Consider the owners who pay monthly keeps, the efforts and expenses to get to track, the bets laid, entertainment and evenings planned, etc. Our jocks seem woes, like needing kit gloves, willing to complain and protest much more than you will see international jocks do under tougher and worse conditions. There certainly seems no consensus based evidence of tonight's conditions being "unsafe", just one party hijacking the meeting, adamant and unyielding to an alternative.

So the jhb horse has to go back.
