Following the running of the first race at Greyville on Friday night, 28 February 2014, the jockeys lodged a protest on the grounds that the track was unsafe for racing.
On reviewing the patrol film the Stipendiary board could not see any visual evidence to support the jockeys concerns and together with officials from Gold Circle were of the view that racing should continue. However, despite lengthy negotiations, which included one on one interviews with each of the senior riders, the jockeys were adamant they were not prepared to continue with the racemeeting, resulting in a deadlock between the parties.
As a consequence the NHA and Gold Circle had no option but to abandon the remainder of the racemeeting

If the NHA believe that the situation was unwarranted ,will they have the balls to suspend all those jockey licences?????
If not,it means the Jocks can just hold operators to ransom!

Charge them for loss of revenue and see how quickly they change their approach - I have always believed in putting horse and rider first(numerous posts by me on this) but If they had an opportunity at 14h30 to call it off then why on earth did the meeting take place considering the stipes could find no good reason to stop the meeting.

The course must be in a shocking state. Gold Circle must take the blame.

I asked the question earlier this week , why the fields were so small ? ( main race) No answer. The reason I asked the question was because I heard the track was not good and the race meeting was going to be changed to a different track. This didnt happen and NOW ? Someone trying to prove a point or is the track so kak ? If the later why wasnt the meeting moved ? Kak planning if you ask me.
The other problem I have is that if the track is so bad was GC prepared to take the chance of injury to jockeys or horses ? Again many questions !!
