Stallions in South Africa
11 years 10 months ago
Looking at the stallions the 2 that stand out are Jetmaster and Captain Al both locally bred.
I asked myself Why? Is it because of the weakness of the Rand that the imported horses have not been up to
scratch Kahal has done well and if he stood in the WC he would get a better range of mares but many of the imports in the last
8 to 10 years have failed Antonius Pius may prove himself
Who else can we expect to make the grade?

In SA we have great stallions, of the best in the world. Add Oritorio etc, etc , etc. to that list. You not making sense to me.

sorry Neigh cant agree on the quality There is no real depth. Australia breed better horses only because they
have been able to shuttle stallions which due to AHS South Africa has been excluded
Check the number of stallions with dismal records
Try to get a copy of Miedema 's book on stallions or look at some old sales catalogues
I looked because look for good stallion early
Found Captain Al missed a Jetmaster but also found some more poor ones over the years
Var I believe will at his best as a broodmare sire

Elmer you can't compare South Africa with Australia....
Ps just read someone has tried to buy Judpot overseas ,
But the niarchos family stood by their South African partners
Silvano has had more grade1 winners than any sire worldwide this season
Judpot is the only two time grade1 winning sire from his 1at crop I believe
Oratorio is having grade 1 winners worldwide

I had a foreign partner in a horse...he is a breeder and owner in the UK...he told me that SA horses are not well bred per say...foreigners buy SA horses on confirmation and not on breeding...maybe the experts can further elaborate.
