Racing today to Greyville, also nominated to run in Fairview in the 12/05/2013, in the East Cape Derby (Grade3). Charles Laird seems to be using all available avenues, to ensure Merit Rating is reached, just in time for the Vodacom July..... "Point to ponder"

That would be something special - Maiden winner to July winner in a space of 3 and a bit months:
.
Has it ever been done, anybody?
I do fancy it today thiugh.

Just an extract removed from the Vodacom July Web-Site "The Company in consultation with the Handicappers will publish a log of the entries. The log will reflect all the horses, in order of preference, as to the make up of the final field at the time of publication. Factors used will include the horses current Merit Rating, its current racing form and competitiveness in the Graded and Listed stakes program over the past year."

Thanks BP, completely forgot about Illustrador - if memory serves right, it beat the odds on stable companion in that 1200m sprint at Clairwood, the start of something special that year.

I have been punting this one ( and doubles with this one) for the July since this past Sunday. Small bets of R50.00 and R30.00 each time. Standing to win around 400k in total.
After this afternoon the 200/1 and 50/1 place will be gone.
Here's hoping .............this is horse racing .......Tata ma chance.
May this dream end on July Day

Pirates is correct.....after the Cape Derby he went to Durban...where he won the 1200m Rupert Ellis Brown...9 days later the SA Guineas 1600m....then the July and then ran 3rd in the Mainstay International.....and then 8 days later won The Gold Cup on 4 August 1990....
