12 years 1 month ago
The top sprinters in the country are meeting at a neutral venue, running in a wfa gr1 and both in top form
WaW (5h) rated 120 - 60kg sire: Western Winter, 16/10
VA (3f) rated 113 - 55.5kg sire: Var, 18/10
Distance 1000m.............
what a race!

I think the weights are a joke if you take into account the amount of racing & how old this filly is. No doubt, WaW is a champ and this will make for a great race but i will be secretly hoping that Via wins...

Can't agree with that - it's WFA race, not a handicap? And on the run in the Cape. Via Afica would need to have improved (not impossible as she is a 3yr old) to beat WaW - my fancy for the race is Welwitchia (provided she jumps on terms)

{deep sigh} For farksake you literal okes... yes it's a bloody WFA and rules are rules ..we get that ... but a 3yr old filly against a 5 yr horse but only set to receive 4.5 kg's ... does seem a joke to me .... sort of David and Goliath....and I hope I got my weights right cos I do not have a racecard and if I wrong ....I going to have a page of snipes coming at me {stomps off to get a double JWB}

The title of this thread is all wrong, it should be Sharp Design to win, who will run second...(

I agree it is WFA, all i was saying is that based on being a 3yr old filly with limited outings against the champ, just a personal opinion on the match-up..... not a professional insight...

I guess we have our own way of looking a things - VA is abt 3 months away from turning 4; and soon (in fact it has already started) 2 yr olds will start competing in open company; VA in fact gets an extra 2.5 kg's because she is a filly - had she been a colt she would have carried 58 kg's - so she is in fact not badly in at the weights imo
