Interesting that they showed the replay of the start of the 7th at Fairview...........no handler involved and the gate opened on time and yet declared a non-runner.
I trust that all jocks who claim that their mount was not ready for whatever reason should call for a race review and request to be declared a non-runner and succeed...............if regulators are consistent of course..

Ja Rob it is hard to believe I have watched it a few times and appears his head was down and twisted but if they had the all clear from behind and the starter says go and the gates open on time I'm not sure how it becomes a non runner. Like you say consistency would be great . Will be interesting to see the stipes and startes report

Looking at our ,SA starts , compared to overseas ,Im suprised that more horses and jockeys are not hurt ? Maybe the TV angle is bad ?
It appears that USA / Europe nags are better trained to load .. ( Just an observation before im attacked ! )

gg I and many trainers would like to see horses loaded by draw and not the rating method as stands at the moment. The present method is not good for your well schooled horses as it makes them go in 1st. The horses that are not schooled properley go in last. It makes some trainers not school them properley so that they go in late which is an advantage. Starters have said to me that about 80% of the horses that mess around come from 20% of the trainers.

Craig , Thanks for that info , Sure its easier, but wrong that they load in that order .
Im suprised that if you and many others complain and want it changed that THEY dont listen.
Just out of interest, how long can a horse stand in a starting stall without it being jeopardized of running a good race ?

It sounds to me as if some trainers need to be reschooled...:

they should fine the trainer if his horse does not load correctly - money is a great educator

gg, it depends on each individual horse. You get the very quiet ones that almost go to sleep in the pens and when the pen opens they are slow out. The longer they are in there the more they relax and can miss the start. Every horse is different.
