Craig after the stipes scratching the horse in the 7th at Fairview every trainer should complain
When a horse is slow away or not ready
Imagine howmany non runners we will get with 1st timers

Rather go back to the old days before starting stalls with them circling at the start ,a real test for the jockey and much better for the horse !

Should their not be a max time from the start of loading till the gates open . esp. in the short sprint races ?

craig, i agree this could be the case, but in all honesty i see a very big bias toward the fancied runner/s in a race being loaded last. sure there have been times where favs have gone in first and still won, but the majority of the time it seems as thou the fav (regardless of starting problems) seems to go in the last 20% or so of horses.

for those clanners with real time on their hands, maybe someone could test this over a week and have a see?
