Some people on this forum their opinions are holeir than thou! If u feel a jock has not given the horse a best chance of winning then u have the right to express yR opinion. Its funny Craig is defending the jockey when he was huffing and puffing when Muzi did not give his horse a fair ride! Commn guys dont take the high position. We all get upset and vent our feelings. Thats why its an open forum! I agree with Titch....pirates and craig are out of line!

TT once again that is your opinion and you are entitled to it but you are not accusing me of being a crook as D is doing with Anthony. It does not look like he read the race right and then accuses Anthony of riding for 2nd. That is not thes ame thing. We cannot allow people to come on here and willy nilly accuse jockeys/trainers of being crooks when they loose money by backing the wrong horse. Muzi's case is very different but I cannot talk about that at the moment. Most of the time Pirates and I dont completely see things the same way but on this I agree with him. Anthony was NOT riding for 2nd and why should we sit back and say nothing when some one is blatantly wrong?(even in our opinion only)

Hows this for the high position............let Delpech send him a lawyers letter and lets see the reverse moondance...........there are a number of cases since the forums appeared.................ask a few posters who said a few irresponsible things about MdK !!!!!
When opinion is of a defamatory nature and it is expressed on an open forum it is no longer opinion,its defamation.......................................if you have evidence of manipulation,I'm all for exposure,but irresponsible libel is just idiotic.

@ Craig...a few years ago we had the 2nd favourate in a maiden at Greyville...it was one of those races for battling maidens with the form being exposed over that distance...the favourate had beaten us twice but we had the beating of the rest of the field...the owner / trainer of the favourate offered to let us win if our horses were gonna fight out the finish...for a fee...the message was conveyed by our trainer.

@FC:
'...the owner / trainer of the favourate offered to let us win if '
In this game, there is so much of animosity and skulduggery, I doubt if any jokcey or trainer will ever succeed in a defamation case; that is the nub of the game!
When I was on the Gauteng Gambling Board, I had all sorts of owners, trainers and jockeys trying to 'get in the good books' or trying to impress me!
Here are some of the stories I heard (obviously 'in confidence;!):
1.
'About 2 years ago, my brother (a trainer) and I set up a double to win over R450 000.00!'
2.
'This trainer wins because he uses top vets who know what to inject! If you come on raceday mornings, you will see the hive of activity in his stable,' a trainer noted;
3.
'That chap uses 'muti', from cow dung and other stuff!'
4.
'We have the top jockeys in our pocket; we tell them when to 'get lost'!' an owner/breeder and ex-jockey.
5.
'I eventually set up this winner for the owner and he won big! The bastard left my stable without even a Thank You!' a trainer's woe!
Yes, it happens..... and maybe, doesn't happen. Maybe often.... or, even less than often! Or.... not at all?
All necessary ingredients (fact, rumour, fiction or just sour grapes) to make horseracing the attraction it is!

Craig... I agree with you and I sympathise with your sentiments. But, I do have a question for you... have you never thought that a jockey hasn't done all he could to finish in the best possible position? Or that a horse's run in a particular race is in any way suspicious? If so, without naming names, what did you do about it? And how often has it happened? I'm not trying to put you on the spot, I am just genuinely interested.
I think certain clanners (definitely not directed at Craig) forget that some of us are basically "mug punters". I have never claimed to be knowledgeable on horses but I do think I know enough to feel something isn't right on occasion. The old saying that where there is smoke there is usually fire comes to mind. And in SA racing I see plenty smoke. But I don't know enough to ever know that I am right. Sometimes when I "blurt" (and I know I do!! lol) it is out of frustration, from my pocket or because I am fed up with the smoke, either generally, or with a particular jockey or stable. And yes often the "blurt" could be a little less blunt or accusatory but they are often done in the heat of the moment... and of course I arrogantly believe everyone must see things the same way as me! lol
If people don't post their thoughts/feelings then we all just let it fester and that is this worst scenario of all. At least by expressing it here it allows people like Craig the opportunity to defend and to explain. Personally, I am happy to hear that I am talking bolox... if someone gives me a reasonable explanation as to why. I may agree or I may not but hopefully, if not, a healthy debate might follow. That to me is what this forum is all about. Its not about an elitist group with the knowledge being the only ones to comment. It would be a very boring forum if that was the case. Its about everyone having a say but being able to accept that sometimes they can be very wrong, and for those with the knowledge to help us "mugs" attain a better understanding
