@the good & Pirhobeta:

'stand up for your colleague....'

During the corporatisation, Ian was a sobering character and very open. The same cannot be said about most of the others (besides the 2 Tonies in Winthour and Proudlock, Philpott and Mr Ormonde Ferraris); they saw through Bain and the carrot that Jabu threw (corporatisation) and the opportunists, most of whom are either millionaires (picking up P shares at a pittance), or, in senior positions.

How, where and when certain bankng and corporate parvenu people (nvere heard of them until then in this industry!) not only came onto the bandwagon, but hijacked the industry, lots of people would like to know..... and should be investigated. Especially when one recalls that suddenly public assets were stripped and (unaccountably) distributed (inter alia) amongst shareholders.

Herein, the 'old guard' (in M/s Jaffee, Beck, Oppenheimers, etc) maintained an arms length from 'influential positions', enrichment (buying our P shares like they going out of fashion) and involving themselves by getting onto the various bodies and even dictating policy and appointments!

Not only that, I refused a bribe to support corporatisation.... and resigned in disgust from the Gauteng Gambling Board when Province approved it!

I fought for meaningful transformation of the industry, not domination by a handful or majority of blacks, or a handful of white, ultra-rich elitists (and... here we go again, am an intricate part of the struggle whether the spineless black diamonds, tenderpreneurs, and enriched blacks like it or not!); this is not what I struggled for (maybe, apart from 'I did not join the struggle to be poor!).

You know what Mr President.... you and the ANC go get stuffed like the infants and women that most of your people are raping left and right!

Mr Jayes, people like you deserve the Baobab Award and a medal; not some of the scum things that were said by some of your own colleagues and choir leaders!

Finally, people, I am tired. I have no interest in the industry besides my childhood infatuation and love for horses and a dream that we, as South Africans (black and white) can be intrisnsic parts of this exciting sport and show the world how it's done.... even better than Hong Kong!

Corporatisation and corporate wheeling and dealing (and politicians) have jammed all the gears in our national (black) Ferrari!

@johnnycomelately:

And what has Chainsaw ever done to uplift / support others besides probably entertain/inform.... and get paid for it?

Did he come out in support of Smiley Moosa, 2cents, the office cleaners, etc?

Have to say Umlilo that while the Chainsaw / Ian Jayes issues are different Chainsaw has supported or voiced his support for 2 Cents and Nico. While I understand where you coming from and believe me I fully agree with you I think it might be a little unfair to have a go at Chainsaw for what he has or hasn't done. The Ian Jayes issue is sickening and it shows through the whole organization that if you are not prepared to dance to their music then you will get shafted. It seems to me even though I don't know you that maybe more should tell them to f$&@ off and move on but it seems their will never be enough support from the real people in racing to stand together and tell all to f$&@ off. Why is that ? It's good to see The Good support Ian and to admit that he knows what's going on but he has to continue to make living so should he also stand up and rock the boat? I'm not sure but I think the whole lot stink and while I love the game as much as the owner who has 200 horses plus and seems to pull all the puppets strings I can't see how a lone voice or two will change the status quo. SAD BUT TRUE!!!

@bs, Mr H & Hibs:

Apologies....... got carried away with the issues and lost track! You see what that stuff does?(:P)

Can't win 'em all.... and can't remember all!

Yes, we need more than a voice or two. For starters, compare the open animosity which appeared initially once Ian Jaye's was named as consultant to Phindi for the CC! Now that he has faced his critics (with such admirable demeanour), he is deservedly admired and respected; the man is knowledgeable and his observations spot on........ no denial!

From what I hear via the grapevine, that's coming... a pending tsunami!

This Phindi exposure, and that of Ian Jayes and yours truly over the years, has registered with some senior politicians (probably already enriched so that nobody can buy them out?) and public interest bodies, who are now asking questions!

@superstar:

'......Any Ideas ?'

Educate others!

NB:
In my creditss, I forgot to mention Adv Nigel Riley who was totally cynical about corporatisation. He was also a staunch believer in an ABET scheme for grooms, together with Mr Ferraris. Shot down!!!

Bravo! Today, over 80% of grooms are still semi-literate!

What is need is a 'groundswell' of opposition. All opponents of the existing racing 'regime' must buy Phumulela shares..... 10 will do.... and then when there are a few hundred of these opposition shareholders... attend the Phumelela AGM ....with an orchestrated plan.
