these 4kg claimers seem to ride better than the allowance suggest, what do the clanners think?

I like these claiming appies, always good value. Also keeps the merit ratings in check, I presume?

I believe everyone needs a place in the sun and let's give them a chance. One of them will in any case be a future champ

I have to say I am surprised (but respect) Oscar's comments. Some of these young lads (and lasses) often seem to put some of their senior counterparts to shame. Dillon, Mariba, Goomany are plusses to me... not only because they seem better jockeys than... insert your chosen jockey here!...but they get 4kgs (or whatever) off the horses back on top. Fantastic!!
I guess it depends whether you can get AM, PS, AD, (CT
) etc or have to rely on... as above, name of your choice here. They will of course make mistakes etc and hopefully learn from those, but I would personally rather have a mistake with 4 kgs off than a mistake or similar with no weight off.

and of course besides the 4kg's.... you also often get a better price... sort of an apprentice stretch (

appies cleaning up because they adjusted the rules..
it used to be
4kg until the apprentice has ridden 10 winners
2,5kg thereafter until he/she has ridden 30 winners
1,5kg thereafter until he/she has ridden 50 winners
now its
4kg until the apprentice has ridden 20 winners
2,5kg thereafter until he/she has ridden 40 winners
1,5kg thereafter until he/she has ridden 60 winners
so some are now better than their claim...unfair ruling for me it should have stayed the same
