This side is pathetic, just as well we didn't play the All blacks today.

Can't agree, not pathetic, just played a team that was a bunch of spoilers. They had ref councelling trough-out the match....I love the Pumas, but I think the officials must treat them the same way as they treat the top 3......geez, Hollywood Walch gave them a lot of chances today

Bunks, wat stel jy voor? I am also worried, and If you read my post on the other post, I don't think we can win this competition, I feel they need Alberts at no 8 and Daniels must go. Juan de Villiers is overrated and I think M Steyn & Kirshner played well today. We can be proud of 4 & 5.....we did not play .....that word you used.....sies......:D I say again, that when you play against a ....Buncks (ugly word) team .....and they play spoiling rugby, then you can only play ......can't help myself....poo rugby:D

I see England are now in 4th spot in the IRB rankings. That tells you that rugby is going backwards.

Imvho Start Pienaar at scrumhalf, Daniels are not a test nr 8, Frans Steyn always break to the inside, they stand and wait for him and I agree that de Villiers is overrated. The early injuries to the Du Plessis brothers obviously disrupted our game plan and their replacements were not in the same class. The biggest problem we had was all the turnover ball conceded and we need a Schalk Burger to secure that ball.

we need someone to get the ball at the breakdown like Brussow used to do, we are having to much turn overs against us

Guys - this is a betting site so I think we should all be assessing what we observed yesterday with a view as to how it might benefit us financially going forward rather than crying into our pretzels. Here's my sixpence for what it's worth :

AUSTRALIA vs NZ

Australia are very moderate so it came as something of a surprise to watch NZ do quite a lot of huffing and puffing without looking overly convincing.

Issues to consider from a BETTING PERSPECTIVE going forward are :

NZ continue to select a flyhalf who is now probably only their second best option. Carter may be brilliant by South African standards but Cruden has been superior throughout 2012. Furthermore - Carter's injuries have left a legacy : he has lost about 5-10 metres of range in his goalkicking. This was highlighted in the Crusaders/Chiefs semi final when a match winning attempt fell short and again yesterday.

The NZ midfield looked uncomfortable. Playing two proven linebreaking centres did not really work. Williams goes after next week and is going to be missed. The absent creativity and organisation of Conrad Smith was very noticeable.

It was difficult to assess the pack as they were playing against a sub standard eight containing a lock who has been trying to retire since late 2011 but who keeps getting recalled to boost inadequate stocks.

Australia continue to make do with very little. They have a scrumhalf, a wing and very little else. Even Pocock was largely anonymous as he struggled to stem the tide. What happened to the creative midfield players Australia used to produce?

Berrick Barnes gives viewers a lovely opportunity to observe a non-South African flyhalf who plays like one! Stands in the pocket, takes most passes flat footed, sees long, flat passes as attacking options and kicks away plenty of possession.

This side looks a good bet to be spanked at Eden Park next week.

SOUTH AFRICA vs ARGENTINA

First up - the failure to secure the 4 try bonus will come back to haunt SA.

Second - We sustained what appeared to be some pretty serious injuries.

Third - A kicking game will always work reasonably well against Argentina as they offer little behind their pack. Persist with it against NZ and you can expect to concede a cricket score. I hope this was a 'horses for courses' approach but somehow I doubt it.

Front row - worked OK considering we lost DuPlessis.

Locks - Effective.

Loosies - Alberts needs to go to No 8 to counter Read and Higginbottom. Daniels is regrettably too small and not international class although the coach might try him on the flank whilst he scrapes the egg off his face.

As a UNIT the present loosie configuration does not seem to work particularly well.

The backs did not impress and seemed to suffer from 'Stormersitis' - they seem oblivious to opportunity and think that the tryline is situatued to the left and right rather than in front!

I thought Hougaard's service from the base of the scrum was much improved. Thankfully.

This side may well struggle in South America next weekend now that the Pumas are over the stage fright of their first outing. They still appear unlikely to be able to put in an 80 minute performance.

In summary I thought all three Sanzar teams were well short of the standard we have seen from them in the past. But NZ are likely to get better as will Australia when Cooper returns.

But the two biggest issues from the weekend were SA's failure to get the 4 try bonus and Australia clocking up a loss at home.

Bismark a BIG blow, but Strauss will stand his man.

The Springbok squad that will be travelling to Argentina was named in Cape Town on Saturday evening, with Craig Burden coming in for the injured Bismarck du Plessis at hooker.

Du Plessis injured his right knee early in the game. He was taken for scans during the game, which confirmed the diagnosis of an injury to his medial and anterior cruciate ligaments. It will require surgical correction and he will be out for the remainder of the season.

Burden a real live-wire
