For Jackson to have folded at the top of the straight cannot have been because of the weight. The winner carried 2 kg less, that could not have accounted for a 9.5 length beating.

There is plenty collateral form to suggest Jackson deserved his rating prior to the race.

I maintain there must have something amiss. Anyway it's in the book and looking forward to the next battle.

any1 with anything to say about jackson running that way because of the weight should ask themselves if he carried 52 would he have run better?? no..his bad run had nothing to do with weight..something was clearly amiss on the day..he has proven he is a better horse than pomodoro and vettel in the daily news..im sure he will bounce back whether it is here or overseas..for me personally he is the best horse in the field yesterday, you can see how he sticks out in the pre race parade..he is top class and this run has taken no shine off of him coz as far as im concerned that was no run and he may have well stayed in the box...

on the day i was impressed with seal,he has proved to be a real good horse, definate gold cup runner..im sure he would have done well in the july too..thought he was stiff to not get in the race when he is proven at the highest level over the distance, especially considering there were other runners who made the field with absolutely no staying form and ran accordingly

and rumya!! thats a rocket

Gavin van Zyl has some really lovely horses. Seal winning and Eton Square as a young and relatively inexperienced horse.............and clanners, please don't forget that he has Slumdog waiting in the wings.

Happy days.

Hi Guys - for me it was disappointing to see no favourites winning on such a big day, the bookies had a field day of course.
Sean Tarry and his connections deserve the accolade - Chris is a big supporter, well done you deserveit.

As for my performance on the day : My fancy Chesalon - I had a each way bet, I think would have won if fitted with blinkers.
I was luck to have backed the following horses as well ; places on the winner - no wins because of draw, win and places on the second horse, places on Vettel as well.
We can wait for the next July - where it will be run , have to wait and see because of the Greyville BEE developments.
Have a good day and see if we can make some money on Fairview - any fancies we can back.

I hardly ever play quartets......and my big fancy for the day and a standout on the card.....War Horse..... finally put me in front so was able to have some ammo for the big race......my crazy round off bet was a QRT 1,6,14 X 10 horses(but no Sangoma selection no 8)X banker Chesalon for 3rd Lloyd loves that box X Field.....33%...::o.....why no field for 2nd ......a smaller % of the quartet would have been just peachy......:(

Party line now i'm even more gutted after reading the stipes report .It seems Chesalon cost Smanjemanje the race plus the fact that he got up for third to deny me a lotto type swinger payout with Eaton square . I have no hair left !!!

Smanjemanje being taking dbls and trebles the whole week with this one. Had total of almost 60k to collect if he won. Now I read Chesalon bumped him which could have cost him the race :X

Small consolation was the swingers Smanje and Chesalon 50 times, withdrew my lot and called it a day. Not a hr that goes by where I think about all those loosing tickets :(

Konichiwa

July day was a bad punting day for me...

I was always a fan of Pomodoro (tarry my favourite GTG trainer), but because of the draw I went big on Gold Onyx....I guess in the end the draw beat me only lol...Striker, take a bow!!

I also fancied Beach Beauty but I guess she had to much weight in the end...I think she will go close at the end of the month if she races...

My brother was big on Pomodoro ever since the SA Classic, but he only put down R20 because of the draw...

I had a sentimental R50 on Smanjemanje (Model man mare) so was devastated that he went so close, but ultimately finished second just like his grandfather..

I did not expect war Horse to win...Fly me over and the Hangman were disappointing...

Princess Victoria won well (enjoyed that race) but I was hoping Happy Archer would split her and Ebony flyer (had the straight line trifecta 100X)...

All in all I lost a few grand, but wil try to recoup losses on Gold Cup Day. The gold cup is actually gonna be an exciting race this year...

Pierre Jourdan stumbled out of the gates and ended up last (this was not the plan), and turning for home was obviuosly the last to make his run, under 60kg (winner 55kg), he still made up a lot of ground to finish 5.8 lengths back, in 11th place. At about the 150m mark he shifted in badly, not sure why. He was in open space, so he did not compromise any other horses. I would love to see the comparative 400m to finish times of all the runners. You need so much LUCK to run a good race in this handicap!!!
