formlines are a crock os sh1t!!!!! We cannot say what a horse will feel like on the day, so I think it is bettter to go with a horse you like and not form lines 100%. No tipster could have ever forecasted that result as formbooks do not show how the horses scrimmaged etc. my opinion, 30% formline and 70% pure gut feel/luck!

A sign of a true champion is consistency, always having the appetite, fed by the race frenzy, to try and win. A big heart and guts is required.there is nothing more irritating than having to hear the constant excuses of wannabe champions.
Pomo is such a horse. Unlike a lot of his peers that are in and out or never come up to the hype. And I had some cash on him.
Jackson is a champion. But what happened? No explanation then expect the same again sometime. Lets hope that if he is a true champion he can get it back on track.
Anybody watch the film 'secratariat'. The big red run a shocker when chasing triple crown. They discover an abscess. But they kept is a secret and next race he pulverised them. Now that horse is a champion. Not a one season wonder or an in and out Trier...

Lots to prove before i use the word ''champion'' with Jackson.
... The closest we have had to a champion in the last 2 years is Igugu for me...

Funny you say that - I bumped into two ladies who were dressed in Royal Blue with either a red hat or red belt. I still said this is a sign but then said ag BullSH!T!!!
We were all expectng a big result and we got it. Anyone notice the QT payout? R300K would have made me very popular at the Alcaponee household!

A friend caught 10% of the quartet with a bookie, the fine print on the ticket read max payout 50k or percentage thereof, now he stuck with 5k instead of 30k,open bet not so good this time lol

Even the QT payout does not seem right...in 2009 when the favourite won it paid over R450K...iam sure there some lucky number punters are smiling today!!!

I had to decide what would happen if Jackson hung off the pace early and hoped for luck in running, or to go from the gun and try to win.
I thought he would go. Jockey had trouble holding him in the Daily News sawing at Jackson's mouth there.
Strydom (draw 20) said after that he felt he just could not keep asking Pomodor to go and go early with Jackson, because it must cost, and this from a horse receiving 2kg from Jackson.
The sectional timing lesson we got on the Sporting Post site video points out that trying to go early in a race is the most expensive time to try because you making ground when horses are fresh and fast. As the pace slowed, Strydom hauled in Jackson for free. Jackson was the first horse beaten when the race got serious.
Other than the draw, it was criminal that the horse got such a big rating in the Cape Derby on the ASSUMPTION that Variety Club is as good over the 2000m as he was over the mile. Ironically, they dropped variety Club a kilo after that race and never put him up again.
Igugu went in the July a 109 and came out 113. Bold Silvano went in a 112 and came out a 118. Jackson could be anything, it's a pity they gave him a rating that he should have come out the July with.
In the end I thought the weight stopped him because the draw and the pace forced him to shoulder it the most expensive way. Once he was favourite, I guess only a Striker would have dropped him out to give him any real chance.
First 5:
Draws: 20 11 10 5 14
Ages: 3 5 4 3 4
Weight: 55 57 58 53 56
All within 1.35 L
Jackson, Variety Club and Pomodoro have all won 2 Gr1 each now. And they each beaten the other once (Jackson and VC, and Jackson and Pom, VC and Pom havent met). Wonder what happens now?

Watch the replay again guys Keep an eye on Jackson and Pomodoro they both raced handy but imo the difference was the jocks,Strydom gave his mount plenty of time, ran straight ahead from the gates and never put his horse under any pressure early..Brilliant Ride......
