INCOMPETENCE AT ITS BEST - AND CASE CLOSED
13 years 4 weeks ago
NATIONAL HORSE RACING AUTHORITY: AN Inquiry Board, comprising Adv David Beasley SC and Mr Dave Durant, handed down a finding on Monday 30 April 2012 in regard to the SHEER COURAGE inquiry.
The Inquiry related to the fact that SHEER COURAGE had run in a maiden race when in fact, prior to the race, it had previously run in England where it had won a race.
Because it had been carded as a maiden when it ran in South Africa, it carried less that the stipulated weight for the conditions of the race. On discovering the fact that the horse was not a maiden, it was disqualified and the winning stake forfeited.
After conducting a full inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this incident, the Inquiry Board concluded that there was no evidence of any malpractice and that, having regard to the circumstances of this particular case it recommended that the inquiry be closed and no further action taken.

yes its everyday that south african trainers enter a 3yo or 4yomaiden unraced into a graduation plate ,yes it every day that an owner or trainer will buy a horse out of europe without knowing the track and race record of the horse...if i was technically adavanced i would replay the interview that the owner gave when winning at turfontein on the 24th of december...how he came to buying the horse etc...if i recall correctly ryan moore recommended to herman brown junior to buy the horse for dubai after he won on the horse in europe...
