No room for CT in KZN?

Is there any truth that there is no room in the inn for many CT horses in KZN this year?

Apparently trucks that are here for sales thought they would be off to KZN with Cape runners for the KZN winter season, but there is no more space for visitors. They milling about waiting for instructions.

Luckily those CT trainers with satellite yards can probably accommodate themselves, but it will be tragic if there is no space for viable strings to make the traditional pilgrimage the tropics in winter.

I am sure I am right in that they will make boxes available for CT trainers who apply. There is a number which they have to keep open for them. If plenty guys apply them they might have to ration the stables and only allow the top runners in.

I hear they aren't allowing any horses under MR80. ,can it be?Every year is the same old story, throw the Cape guys a bone and they make do with it.Don't people realize that the Cape horses are a massive contributing part to the success of the Durban season?in fact Durban should roll out a red carpet for the cape horses coming to visit.......

Bottom line is Durban don't really want the cape horses to come and win their races.....so to make it just a bit more difficult to accommodate them suites them just fine....
The red carpet is for the "stars" who arrive......but alas I doubt there will be a carpet this year. But as in years gone by the results will do the talking.....

i was under the impression that when a trainer obtained their license from the nhra they were entitled to train and race horses anywhere in south africa...hotline when clairwood closes down u must make sure that enough boxes are built at summerveld so this situation doesnt occur in the future...

It was proposed by the Kzn Trainers associaton( I actually proposed it as I was sick and tired of Natal horses being elimated to let trainers based in other regions with owners supporting other regions getting in before our horses) to impose a merit rating limit if you want to call it on outside horses. They can come with pleasure but we want to attract the good horses from CT and other centres and not the maidens and lesser horses. If they are here they will be eliminated 1st and Natal based trainers horses will get runs 1st. Owners who are supporting us and not other areas will be helped. They will make space for the good horses so dont worry about that. They will be here.

I would make some space if Brett phoned and said needs 4-6 boxes to make sure he was here. We all want to see the top horses here.

if everyone is honest then they know and will admit that most of the features in natal season will be won by the cape boys.its a fact that the natal training ranks is very thin on quality and now these same weak trainers want to restrict the powerful cape yards from bringing their up and coming future stars to natal.in past yrs dynasty won his maiden in natal, eyeofthetiger won his maiden there and many others.so these natal boys want to curb the cape boys.wats next i ask in all sincerity.where does it stop.racing is already in the doldrums in this country and now these weak natal boys are scared of a bit of competition which is exactly wat this game needs.i hope the authorities can sort out this issue because racing can ill afford this situation.

Winzip they can win their races before they come here if they that good. I make no appology for looking after our Natal owners and if I remember correctly Drier, De Kock and Laird are Natal trainers but what do I know.
