Well, there's a reason I didn't actually become a lawyer. Going around in circles and getting nowhere is harmless enough, but to do it as a job?? Shoot me, rather.(:P)

Winzip - it seems you are a bit off the point by attacking the KZN trainers. I would not say De Kock, Laird, Drier and many others for that matter as soupmeat trainers. I think - looking at the log - it is a fair spread of trainers in the top 20 from all racing provinces. So the Cape guys do not dominate and should not expect favours....

im not saying all natal trainers are soupmeat trainers, but the majority are.other than mdk,c laird and to a lesser extent d drier which current natal trainers hv won a met,or a july, yet these trainers who hvnt won 1 of big 2 races want to tell a trainer like m bass(3julys,5mets)that he doesnt know wat horses in his stable are good enough to bring to durban.lets say he has a 3yr old in his stable who he knows is a champ but was injured or not yet ready to race so has no merit rating or lower than 80 merit rating must he now leave that horse in cape town wen he knows the horse is capable of winning a gr1 race?i dont want to attack anyone and all im saying is this decision is wrong and cant be good for the game as it promotes excluding better horses from competing in your season.how can that be good for the game?who knows if there is a champion out there with a merit rating of

But Winzip - no one is stopping them from bringing whatever they want to. All that was said it might be harder to race a maiden or low division horse in KZN. But having said this, I cannot see the Cape raiders bringing bad stock anyway

Pirates when the idea 1st came up we spoke to the stipes etc and as it is a local condition it is fine. GC can make that call no problem.

Pirates - Castle Walk was eliminated from the July as a three year old. He ran midfield the following year.

Craig, got the name after a tuna boat I have in CT.....
All I am saying is take the obstacles out the way and let the best horses come up for the season.A trainer from CT isn't going to bring a battler up to dbn to try win a maiden if that is all it will win.Lots of trainers bring up babies and one time winners who have a bright future, some babies mature well in the warm climate and have a run or 2 towards the end of the season instead of standing in the cold weather in CT......
Just all in all the gut feel is that dbn doesn't welcome CT trainers in their season......if someone from dbn or jhb wants to come down for the cape season then they seem to be much more welcomed with no real prerequisites in place.

Hotline we do welcome them but just bring your best horses and not your mediocre ones otherwise you might battle to get a run. CT does welcome us but cannot give any boxes to the guys that want. Which is worse? They do not keep 80 or so boxes for us for the summer season. I would not take merit rated 78 horses down anyway. This way also opens up the boxes to more out of town trainers if we restrict the type of horse to the better horses unless they want to take their chances in getting a run.

Or maybe is it because they are scared of all the first timers they will be stepping out (from CT) but if that is case .. i have seen some cracking first timers stepped out by plenty of natal trainers .. very strange this decision certainly a debate here. Also is it free noms in KZN?

Magic - you are now becoming very technical. Let's leave that at the door and look at the real issues here. Without the owner there is no trainer and without the owner there is no punter - no law stuff!

I'm sure Jane Trotter will have enough space to keep all their maidens that need warmth and sunshine to grow and then they can take them back to cape town, I can't understand how some people find what craig say so difficult to understand! Bottom line natal trainers get first preferences in mr80 and below races so don't be upset if you don't get accepted

Bad Company - 100%. I cannot see what is so difficult here. If you support KZN racing as I do, I welcome this. The same should apply for all provinces in my book - even Kim and PE. After all you are either a Cape Town trainer or a PE based trainer and should make ends meat there!
