trainers verse the poison dwarfs?

Its been mentioned on another thread that a trainer is only as good as the horses he has,a trainer has suggested that its 95% horse and 5% trainers ability, does the same apply to jockeys, cos if the latter is true even a bottom of the rung flamingo or pe trainer could have had the success that mdk has if they had the same horses,so if marcus, delpech, lerena did not have the plum rides will a jock like say wrogeman be riding gr1 winners?

The guys at the top of both professions are there because they have something special ,whether its talent or effort or a bit of both combined .It's the same with every profession the more talent or how you apply yourself the better results achieved.

Just check the results of some feature races and see that even the so called lesser trainers and jockeys have had July winners etc when they have had the horse. 95% of horses will win with 95% of trainers and jockeys if they are good enough but it is the champions that get the other 5% to win when possibly they should not have.

It is true that a trainer is only as good as the horses he has under his care, but what seperates agood trainer from a bad trainer is not where he features on the log at the end of the season but what he has achieved with the horses he has trained. In all the years i have spent in the game i have seen certain so called bad trainers in my book really skrew a potential top horse that it breaks down so badly early on in its career that it never races again and this happens often. They will race horses that are shinsore, they will race horses with temperatures, they will race babies to early in their carrers that are still weak behind and not give the horse time to mature, they race babies whose knees have not closed enough, they race horses that are fat and tell the jockey to make them gallop which unfortunately puts a strain on the horses heart and lungs and they go in the wind, they will take a chance and race horses that have being coughing during the week. There are many more examples that i have witnessed but these would be your bad trainers and fortunately they are in the minority.A good trainer has a love for horses he puts his horses first, good food, great training methods, and most importantly the care of a horses legs and joints because if these are not pain free the engine means zip

Craig Eudey who i see posts on the forum and whom i have never met but know of learned from the master a Alister Gordon

I agree with Craig. I have always said : 90% horse and the other 10% the trainer and jock and can fight for.
Must say that my assessment was never well received so it is good to see a trainer thinking along the same lines.

a bad trainer/jockey can easily turn a good horse bad - trainer has way more influence on the horse - the poor jock is under the microscope for 2-3 mins but the trainer has the horse for the rest of the time - a good trainer can get an average horse to win a maiden while bad trainers often battle to get the horse to win -

I think "poison dwarf" is a German term ... I know Joseph Goebbels was called that, by his own party not the Allies, because he was very short and also a real lying bastard. Isn't there also a music group by that name?

A selfish, untrustworthy, deeply obnoxious or evil person of diminutive size, whose ostensibly unthreatening appearance allows them to fulfil their predisposition for causing unprovoked pain and suffering in an under-hand manner for anyone who has the misfortune to strike-up a friendship with them.
