Why apply for colours is you own the tail of a horse, after all if you own 10%, the horse will most probably not run in your colours... Not worth it imo....

Rg that would be great. Will keep an eye out for something to lease and let you know. Gregbucks if you want your name in the racecard you need to get colours.Eitther Individual or you can have partnership colours. If I charge you for a share in a horse you must have colours otherwise you are racing "under the lap" and I could loose my licence. You probably going to say just dont charge you!

I'd also be keen craig, I'd like to buy a small share rather than lease, I find that more often than not lease horses have plenty problems and the vet bills shoot up

Thanks guys would love to train for and own horses with you. BC both ways have their pro's and con's. The lack of outlay with a leased horse helps some people and all you pay is the transport to the stable. The transport back is paid by the breeder. Another pro is if the horse is useless you just send it back. If you have a good horse then obviously you would rather own it.Just wish the horse could tell us first how good they were!

And what documentation will i be required to provide to become a share holder ?

If you a registered owner you will have all the benefits. Except in only the biggest feature races you dont even need to have a runner on the day to reap the benefits of owning a horse. I would suggest you also become a member as the facilities are also much better.

This is a great topic, and thanks to all especially Craig for his comments.
Excuse my ignorance, but only been in the game for about 2 years and have NO idea on owning a horse, but how does the distribution of stakes work? Not necessarily for a syndicate, but what percentage of the stakes does the owner get? In both a leased horse and an outright owned horse?
