Mike did say that PP had been scoped on the morning after the race on Summer Cup day and that he had found mucus etc. The virus currently doing the rounds is wierd, in terms of symptoms and also in terms of recovery. We have nicknamed it the "boomerang" virus in our yard....

So, I would not write PP off just yet....

So Flash would you say that his earlier runs were flukes and his last start was his real ability???

The fact that the horse is being written off after running 3rd beaten 3 lengths by a horse that has won 4 from 7 seems to suggest that a lot of people held him in even higher regard than the Azz Man

Titch, what was special about his earlier runs. He beat Beacon Flare twice. He beat Euroslilver and that formline is really suspect too. Yes he looked smart but he certainly never had the WOW factor. That we heard from Azzie. In his penultimate run Azzie said Lerena made a fatal error by going to the front. He won his maiden and the Greyville feature from the front. You can be certain a reason will be found for this poor run.

I think the horse if finished. Maybe he has an injury, a breathing problem or he has not trained on. I think on his 2 year old form he should have trounced that bunch on Saturday. When you consider Silver Flyer will be back in JHB for the classics you realise that Azzie needs a miracle.

Flash there are many viruses that cannot be detected until a horse in put under pressure (in a race) do you think that Mike Azzie would run PP knowing that he is harboring a virus...of course not, I am one of the many "malakas" that backed PP and I still believe that he is way better than that field, dont write him off,he is in very good hands and will repay you, just wait and see

how much of his 3.6m will he recuperate? I will be shocked if he could ever beat Silver Flyer again over any trip

Very few if any of these expensive horses ever get any where near their purchase price unless they go abroad but as Mr H eludes to in the CHAMPION STAKES he had the likes of SILVER FLYER,GIMMETHEGREENLIGHT and ASTRO NEWS comfortably beaten so imo he has to be much better than his last start

How much was he "sold" for ? A substantial offer was made for the colt after his Grade 1 victory and some partners accepted. Azzie brought Mrs Beck in to buy out the current sellers so that the horse could remain in his yard

I remember Anthony Delpech saying Lord London is one of the best he has ever ridden. He said the same about Perana when he won that feature at Turffontein. Yes he got caught up in the moment of exhiliration but neither Lord London or Perana ever shaped again. I just thhin Azzman got ahead of himself.
