Ive been in JHB now 3 years and still yet to find a place that come close to fouries(10/10)... That was my punting spot... relaxed and the service was brilliant. Damn i miss that place!!!!! However for a place like JHB, I would have thought there would be something close but unfortunenately nothing.... So sad....

Carnival city - 6/10 (Service ok, music too damn loud but it caters for evryone other than those watching racing.... Sometimes hard to get a bet in on somewhat big race day...)

Bruma lake - 4/10(Excellent bookies services, ok bar.... nothing else I guess... Oh seating limited)

Hillfox - 4/10 (Ok if you just going to grab a drink.... limited seating at the bar, patrons behind the tellers need to take pride/a different approach to service... you can see they do not want to be there.... oh and the eating and drinking while taking apatrons bet is a NO NO!!!! hence my 4/10.... should be a 3/10 but there aint anything else in that area...)

So now, I dont frequent any TABS or Pubs cause they don't offer the all round experience..... I rather hit the course (Turffies), which I think If you not in the Furious soom or any section where there is a good meal, good service and no rowdy people then it just might not be worth it if you feel like taking the lady out for a sunday/saturday lunch... my two cents....

I have visited many and a few that need to get their act together are, BETSA in Silverton Pretoria. This is a punters nightmare. Streches are only available 10 mins before the off. One has to pay R1 per betting sheet. Staff have no idea about betting and what a bet is. No tote present on the premises. The so called manageresses donot smile and very cold.
Rating of 1/10 is being generous.

Another is Marshals in Verulam. This was probabaly the biggest cash over the counter business in SA , about 10 years ago. Very Dirty. Tiles has never been cleaned. No food sold on the premises. One will be afraid to get a drink from the bar. Rating 4/10

Hollywood in Umgeni Park serves the best food though. If you looking for great quality at a reasonable price, Get to Hollywood. Food Rating 10/10

Best overall set up will be Club Tab.

Aryan - I used to live in PTA a number of years ago and never found any decent place to have a punt - Perhaps Dave has a hidden spot?
