Scotia on the World Cup and other things
15 years 3 weeks agoGood morning and cant believe we are only "21" days to kick off and pray it will be a success.
I am hoping SA can manage to get to the next round but it wont be easy.
The other sections could be cut and dry as far as group winners and its probably worth an ATC
Argentina, England, Germany, Holland, Italy, Brazil and Spain
Should get in the region of 20/1......ish
Not sure who I fancy between Argentina, England, Brazil or Spain, but that is my short list
The concerned milkman is supplying dairy products to the Argentina camp, so that could be an omen that the cream rises to the top? So Argentina for me, and hope its not a "Messi" final, best outsiders Portugal .....have your say on the Forum
Full betting on all games on our numerous bookies links.
We have the super 14 to put to bed and still hopeful for an all SA final, but again wont be easy.....Garrick Latest
Pop idols as predicted has Crystal and Lee to fight it out, however Lee has now gone fav and would appear to be the winner?
So we are now looking for another Scottish granny ............Scottish Granny

As far as racing we have the Natal season heating up with some great racing..........
Overseas this weekend we have the Irish 2,000 gns where Canford Cliffs is worth a punt at 3/1 and don't panic if you see Dynasty in the field.
The English Classics 4/5th of June where St Nicholas still 5/2 for the Derby the Oaks has Ramoush and Aviate joint favs 6/1. Sariska has gone 5/2 for the Coronation on Oaks day and what about the miracle Special Duty, gets beat in 2 Classics and wins both on an objection.
Ascot (15th to 19th of June) Kings Stand, Queen Anne, St James, Prince of Wales, Gold Cup, Coronation, Golden Jubilee etc
At this stage the race of the meeting could be the Queen Anne where Goldikova, Rip Van Winkle and Paco Boy could clash.
Manifest for the Cup and can Special Duty win the Coronation on a default?
The MDK machine keeps going and what a great win for Lizard Desire and well done Albert we look forward to the movie....From small time to world champ
As mentioned cricket not my strong point and the experts tell me that 20/20 and proper cricket are different but must use some of my winning on England to beat Aus for the Ashes at 7/2.
Update on the leg, getting better by the day however have a pair of surgical stockings, look like ladies tights to me, just more expensive. The problems is they are a bit hot so its better with shorts, don't want to look silly at the Afrikaans pub so maybe a Blue Bulls strip with a Batman cloak is the answer for the big game?
Canford Cliffs to win the irish 2000
Have to pick a weekend treble and will go with the heart for the Rugby, but the Crusaders bother me?
Will take the SA double for the rugby
Canford Hills to win the Irish 2,000 gns
Will be attending a Victor Chandler function on Sat for the Champions League Final and will be taking 8/1 on a 0-0 result after 90 mins, to give Joffers a chance to catch back
Have a great weekend and good punting!

Not a very good picture, but you get the idea at the Afrikaans pub, they had paramedic girlies giving out shooters and I was able to convince the young lassies that I had a plastic leg and real foot, good lookers but not that bright, and NO, chance of getting the leg over before you ask............Mrs S took the pic

Devastating Canford Cliffs wins Irish Guineas
Report: Curragh, Saturday
Abu Dhabi Irish 2,000 Guineas (Group 1) 3yo, 1m
CANFORD CLIFFS obliterated his rivals in the Irish Guineas at the Curragh, dismissing the opposition with perhaps this season's most impressive three-year-old performance.
Richard Hughes had said that Canford Cliffs was "electric" before the Guineas, but even he must have been surprised by the ease with which the Richard Hannon-trained 9-4 favourite took this Classic.
The writing was on the wall by the halfway stage, when Xtension took up the running and jockeys across the Curragh set to work on their mounts. All bar one, that is. Hughes was statuesque aboard Canford Cliffs, exuding confidence as his mount picked off rivals one by one.
Then the contest was over in an instant. With the race at his mercy, Hughes stopped toying and let Canford Cliffs go. The response was immediate and although Steinbeck, who was sat just behind, tried to go with him, the Aidan O'Brien horse could no sooner swim the Irish Sea than track Canford Cliffs in this blistering form. There can be no more arguing that Canford Cliffs, whose stamina was questioned after he finished third in the Newmarket Guineas, does not stay a mile.
This three-length defeat of Free Judgement suggests the winner has improved markedly from Newmarket, where he beat Xtension by just a length, compared to the gulf that separated them on this occasion.
And the three-year-old colts division, which had looked of dubious quality a few days ago, might just have found a genuine star performer.
Canford Cliffs is now likely to meet his Newmarket Guineas conquerer Makfi in the St James's Palace at Royal Ascot, for which Boylesports make him a 5-2 chance to gain revenge.
Richard Hannon jnr, assistant trainer, said: "That was super. We wanted to get him settled and he's won pretty much as he liked.
"He's the best best we've ever had. To win a Guineas like that was something else. The St James's Palace Stakes will be next for him."
Asked about the St James's Palace clash, Hughes said: "The French horse is very good, but I think I have the key to Canford Cliffs.
"[At Newmarket] I got him to sleep but couldn't wake him up. Today he was electric."
Jim Bolger, trainer of runner-up Free Judgement, said: "I was really pleased with his run. He has shown improvement and could be a horse for Royal Ascot."
O'Brien said fourth-placed Steinbeck would probably go to the St James's Palace, while Viscount Nelson, who ran an excellent race to finish third, could head for the French Derby.
He said: “The visor has made a big difference [to Viscount Nelson] and helped him concentrate today.
“I’m delighted with the performance [of Steinbeck] after that layoff. He finished his race very well and was having a good blow after the race. The St James’s Palace is a likely next step.”
About Fencing Master, who finished tenth, O'Brien said: "The vets said he came back clinically abnormal."
