Alexander’s Pierre Jourdan was only the second horse in history to reach the third leg of the SASCOC SA Triple Crown, a gruelling three-race test for three-year-olds over 1600m, 1800m and 2450m and notoriously hard to win. Every racing fan was longing for him to win the last leg, the SA Derby on Champions Day last Saturday, but as the field straightened, Irish Flame shot past him and pulled clear to beat him by 9.50 lengths.
``Pierre Jourdan is a talented little horse and ran a very nice race, but Irish Flame gave us a hiding and you don’t come back for a second `klap’,’’ said Alexander yesterday. ``He made us look ordinary.’’
Anyway, he said, his gelding has done enough for this season, ``unless he shows me something special or gets too fresh.
``Thank God, he pulled up well but he deserves a bit of a holiday. He’s had a very hard season (he ran eight times for six wins and two seconds, mostly in features) and he’s still got a lot of growing to do. He’ll be a very smart horse when he’s matured, that’s for sure.’’

Nice one Gary... Let himholiday for a while... You can drop off by me if you want.... Lots of green grass to roam around in... he can catch a dos in the lounge. Think about it
