Scotia on the long/Champions weekend

Good morning all, not sure how many are taking the "long weekend" but enjoy.

Its been a rather sad week with the funeral of close family friends father and the passing of our brother-in-law in the UK.

In addition have had the misfortune of being in Bosman St to watch the trash men trashing the city by emptying rubbish on the streets, broken glass for cars to drive over, plus the Taxi blockades with road closures not to mention the flight cancellations at the airport due the Volcanic problem in Iceland. Another step towards 2012?

Hell people can only mess up the planet.

Never mind its almost the weekend "don't worry be happy".

I have had no last minute reprieve for my boat trip on the Vaal river, so will be watching the racing from the i phone and if Warm White Night gets beat it could be man over board.

Warm White Night the banker on Champions Day?

Remember and have a go at our Champions Day competition one and a half grand up for grabs, just take 4 fancies and post them on the Forum.Click here to enter

Have this feeling the party for the R2M bonus could be spoilt by Mirage Drive 10/1?

I must say should be a great day with plenty other activities on the go.

Looking at the racing

As far as my ante post update

Horses: It was great to see Hollywood coming out with betting for the July....Early betting for the July... and GreatOdds have prices for all the main UK racing, however as highlighted on the Forum the SA punting market is small and the "big guns" coming to town might not get the return expected, but the World Cup is here and hopefully it will generate plenty focus on us.
As far as betting moves St Nicholas Abbey still hot fav at 16/10 for the 2000 gns with Elusive Pimpernel coming into 5/1 after an impressive win, the mile might be a bit too far for Canford Hills 10/1.

The Derby the Saint still 2/1 tops.

Still no female stars and the 1,000 gns a poor 4/1 fav is Special Duty, with Music Show, Rumoush at around 8/1 a better option could be Seta after Fallon has taken the ride 8/1 to 5/1
The Oaks much the same where Special Duty 10/1 with the better option Rumoush at 12/1
We have Royal Ascot to look forward to mid June.
The Kentucky Derby still looks at the mercy of Eskendereya 2/1.

Rugby: will leave to our resident expert Garrick his latest update is superb......Fancy winning really big money?

Soccer: funny old game and the fluxuations in prices over the last week have been hectic with Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal being up and down like a prostitutes panties (whores knickers, for Scottish readers) much the same in the Champions League, the end result at this stage 6/10 Chelsea and 16/10 Utd. Inter now 17/10 favs and Barcelona could still be the answer at 22/10?
The World Cup where only Argentina on the move 8/1. Spain still top the boards at 9/2, Brazil 5/1 and the English 13/2.

Pop Idols: Much as previous predicted with Crystal now going money on at 8/10.

BBC Sports Personality, would it not be great if a racing person could win and lets be fair "Sir"? Tony McCoy could be the answer at 7/1, he is third fav behind Rooney (if England win World Cup he will be 5/10) and Andy Murray? So McCoy is the boy.

Have my treble to post to try and beat "Joffers my boy" and will go for Warm White Nights at Turffontien on Sat, Man Utd to beat Spurs and the Bulls to beat the Lions with the handicap

Good punting!

Trust me Bob the box has plenty, plus loads for the trip, cant stop singing the Rod Stewart song "I am Sailing".

We also have a wee dvd player and tempted to take Titanic or the one with De Niro, Cape Fear?

(td)It will be a miracle if they race. Raining here in Germiston too and had a huge deluge yesterday. They are considering Tuesday as an alternative, I hear. Hib, the movie was the Perfect Storm.
