The starting prices for Race 4 was
15/10 Educat
5/2 Norma Rae
6/1 Coloured Gem
Coloured Gem wins paid R3.20 (22/10) on the tote as favourite. And R1.00 or (0/1) the place.
A bookie would lay you 7/1, so who would bet on the tote if you can get 300% more?
You have to say it's peculiar.

Yes Jack another mystery, I agree no idea why the punters use the tote except for exotics.

The TF in the last leg of the p6 yesterday was Hurricane Force with about 400m to race. The pool was 86000 with Hurricane Force paying R3.30 and Morroccan R3.60.When they past the post the pool had updated to 91000 and was showing joint favourites @ R3.40.Morroccan was declared the official TF.
PGE can preach until they are blue in the face about audits etc,but I can assure you that they have not appeased their customers. There are continuosly suspicious looking
things going on these days, and racing people are suspicious at the best of times,so they are going to have to do more to assure the customers that nothing out of the ordinary is going on.
My tote form has been diabolical so I have cut my spend anyway, but there is no ways that I am going back to spending the sums that I was previously until I feel assured
that nothing untoward is on the go.

had to stop at my fav pizza place today and went into the tote(had no will to punt as I had a no-hoper running his last race and did not want to throw good money after bad) - counted a whopping 20 people - public holiday? Zero confidence no doubt so I hope for the sake of saving local racing more foreign ghosts punt into our tote as the local punter is sadly becoming a distant memory. How sad to be part of the generation that might see the demise of racing!

This craziness has now being going on for more than 6 months. It is inconceivable that they have not identified EXACTLY what is causing these anomolies and surely the right decision is to eliminate them.If it is necessary to stop co-mingling then so be it.
Importations of any commodity is controlled to ensure SA interests are protected so why not the "importation" of bets if they rob the local punter and endanger the ultimate success of the tote, and therefore stakes?
They have to do whatever it takes, but how much confidence can you have, judging by the pathetic effort that was made, when they used the 2 dummy's in suits,on tellytrack, who clearly didn't have a clue. It was advertised that they would explain the situation and they failed to present ONE SINGLE FACT !

Wait until the Majority have internet and not the minority atm(or even mobile phones),something will have to be done to boost the stakes, because these guys that use the tote, won`t remain loyal when they can choose from all the different online sites..

the thing with "coloured gem" seems worse, than it was. three minutes to start both commentators favoured him, so some punters maybe jumped on the train...

Addiction is a funny old thing - if you are an alcoholic and stop taking your poison and then face a crisis and return to your old ways you will still get drunk on the same brand of wine - If you stop punting the horses through the tote and return six months later and are still getting weird divs I think you might just move on forever. Such a dangerous area to play with. In this day and age it is far easier to keep old customers happy than to attract new ones. I'm really glad to say that my tote punting has almost dwindled down to one bet every two-three weeks so thank you TAB for saving me lots of cash and aggrivation.
