Hope she is OK!...sick society we have to contend with.

Possible reason why she is not getting rides......the racing fraternity does not need a young, individual minded upstart, who rides because she is passionate about it.

This embarrases the racing controllers, they now lose control of the outcome.....she has upset the applecart, by winning when she was not "supposed" to.

Sad, but possibly true.

Perhaps some jocks, would like to comment, as to how clean this "game of greed" is.

her riding is great....
the work riding is a good start....
but the product needs to be marketed.....
She needs to move in the circles with the rich....

if you want to be seen by the rich...
will you be a salesman for toyota or Rolls Royce.....

get a marketing guy...do a product wrapping and start selling the product...
the jockey's agents cannot do marketing....they are good at booking rides...doing the phoning around...

Nice one dave but the poor youngsters (26 appies currently shown on SAJA web site - how the heck are they going to find rides?) are being thrown to the wolves - not enough horses for them to ride - fields are small(8-14 runners) so a real battle to get mounts if you are not one of the top ten riders in each province - if I were a youngster i would seriously consider try to market myself financially - go the other route - everyone wants to charges 10% drop down to 5% - also go to places that the other jocks hate Vaal, Pvt trainers etc ride work there everyday so that your face becomes a fixture - call all the trainers at the Vaal and tell them you will be around to ride work are there any horses that they would like you to gallop - ask them if they need to pass any horses through the pens as you are prepared to help. Get a good agent and study races - Go into the ring with knowledge and impress the owners and trainers with comments about their horse("I have looked at the race and this is how I plan to ride him - will that be ok with you or does he need to be handy?) Give feedback - (make yourself stand out from the crowd) - After a day's riding get together with your agent and go through the day's rides - send an email to the trainer/owner telling them what you thought of the horse (be careful if it's a dog!!) - Get your agent to call the trainer after rides and find out if the horse has pulled up sound and to thank him for the ride etc - small things perhaps but when there are limited opportunities you have to make yourself stand out from the crowd. Don't ever put all your eggs in one basket as things change so quickly -

yes Nicci & her boyfriend were out fishing at a dam in Benoni when some dissadvantaged fellows made off with her hand bag & cell phone. He had to dive into the dam to avoid being stabed. Obviously these fellows didn't follow into the water - I wonder why ?
