P6 C/O Policy
15 years 2 months ago
Why is another p6 c/o this weekend going onto the Turffontein meeting.PGE income is obviously based on pool sizes, but a c/o onto a meeting that is competing with another meeting and which is hardly vastly superior in quality to sundays Clairwood meeting is unfair to Natal punters.Do the statistics show that Turffontein's pools on saturday will definitely be superior to what Durban could produce on sunday.
PGE,how about actually putting out a useful press release for a change that proves to us the customer that the figures show this to be true. Not all customers who bet on Durban have the same knowledge about Jhb racing. The trend certainly seems to be to carry all c/o p6's in particular to saturday meetings in Jhb.

I have one more comment:
On the Saftote website they have the carryover as R773K with the projected pool for the P6 being R5 Million??!!?!?!?!?
Whoever wrote that should take his own temperature and check for any irregular intake of narcotics....................
Do they really think they can get punters to sink in a further R4.2 mil over and above the carryover on a normal weekedn racemeeting in Gauteng??
Perhaps they think its a good marketing tool to try and entice people to have a punt? you would have to be some serious kind of peopol to believe you are going to get a R5 mil pool on Saturday.
Why not then keep the carryover for the 27th and get another one inbetween....make a super pool, instead of using the money on a weekend bender?
I though the reason why they changed these carryover rules was to use it as a marketing tool? Not doing much of a merketing job right now are they?

Must agree you with you 100%. I certainly like the old rules re- instated. The views of the punters are NEVER taken into consideration. One only has to walk into the totes in KZN to hear the moans and groans. This autocratic organisation does not care. The only care they have is that they havee the punters by the b@lls.

As per the tabonline site:
"HORSERACING, by its very nature, is both controversial and subjective with virtually every participant having a strong opinion on a variety of issues. Phumelela and Gold Circle welcome suggestions and constructive comment and criticism, but some views expressed in channels like newspapers and web sites are a distortion of the truth or factually incorrect. And occasionally they are absurd. When we deem it necessary, we will put the record straight on this page rather than by responding directly in the relevant channel".
The above statement is correct in terms of the fact that a lot of comments made on forums such as this are in fact absurd. However, much of the absurdity is derived from the general discontent that exists in racing right now,and born from the frustrations that punters, owners and trainers etc feel towards a company that has adopted a high-and-mighty approach.
It is fair comment that PGE can hardly be expected to respond to every whimsical chirp on a website, but they never respond, that is the problem. The fact that they have actually posted the above message on the tabonline site is some progress I suppose.
Why has it taken so long for them to actually come to the decision that such a response is required.Racing by it's nature stirs emotion, and a slow response to these emotive issues is what is leading to the general discontent. Why,when changing policy,is a press release or the like not put out immediately to explain the need for the change in policy and in the case of the p6 c/o scenario is it not quantified by releasing some statistics showing the reasons that Cape and Natal c/o are now going to be moved to a Jhb meeting.
This is hardly rocket science,it is simple communication. Why is everything made so difficult in PGE world.

The fact that the media department of a public company can actually say out loud that if and when they F@#$%g feel like it, they will put up some post 'here" rather than respond to the "relevant channel" is an utter disgrace. Mind you, it's also groundbreaking...I never seen anything like it.
They don't respond because everytime they do, they look stupid. Worse, I think they are frightened of the questions they might get if they did decide to engage with their customer.
Whatever one might think of this, you must admit we have NEVER seen such a negligent communicator in a publicly owned company that deals with a mass market, nor a company whose very top management is so divorced from the customers at the very bottom. I don't think they know who those customers are. (Quick, anyone think the ceo could work out what a 6 horse boxed swinger costs? Nah, he's never played one)

Could you imagine Woolworths putting out a notice like this?LOL
Just a pity that the 95% of PGE customers who actually feed the tote are sitting in totes and don't have internet access.

The headlines in todays local racing publication reads: Punters are now voting with their money.
Subheading: KZN punters haven't taken well to carryover decision.
The rebellion is gaining momentum , I guess.

750k c/o last week, nett pool 3 mill. estimated by PGE estimators 5 mill
750k c/o this week, nett pool 2,7 mill estimated by PGE estimators 4 mill
Do you think we might get an accurate assessment sometime this year.
I am glad these guys aren't doing any renovations on my house,'cos i would never be able to pay the final amount in comparison to the quote.

Re: Re: P6 C/O Policy

Again today the pool is only 2.7 Mil......I thought Phumelela wanted to attract new blood?
Imagine what they could have had next week with huge racing, dubai and a P6 pool of close to 10 million????? It would have been the end of the month meeting with most people getting paid on the 25th of the month (maybe Friday the 26th)
Isn't that what marketing is all about????
I just wish above all my wishes that Phumelela come clean and tell us why they make certain decisions, thats all we ask, just tell us why you do the things you do!!!
Surely it makes a whole lot more sense to do what we have suggested?!?!?!?!
Maybe robert garner can write a press release whereby he explains how they come to the conclusions on which meetings to carry forward to? Maybe there is a time limit that MAY not expire before a carry over is utilized?? These things we need to know.
What am I thinking.....maybe the fresh American spring air is getting to me and I'm starting to blurt out crazy thoughts!!!!!
