TAB is giving away R35 000 in free bets, including a R10 000 grand prize, to account holders who have updated their FICA documentation since 1 August last year or who do so before 28 March 2010.

TAB customer care representatives are currently contacting TAB account holders to assist them in ensuring their FICA documentation is up to date. This is being done in order to avoid TAB having to suspend any accounts. As an “Accountable Institution”, Phumelela is legally obliged to verify the identity of each TAB account holder and to suspend the accounts of customers who have not provided up-to-date FICA documentation.

To facilitate the process and to simultaneously thank horseracing and soccer clients for their support, TAB has launched a competition for all its account holders.

The competition closes on Sunday 28 March and all account holders who have updated their FICA documentation since 1 August last year or who do so before the closing date will automatically be in the running for the prizes.

A total of R35 000 in free TAB bets is up for grabs in the lucky draw competition, which comprises a grand-prize draw and weekly draws with R1 000 free TAB bets for each of two account holders each week.

The first weekly draw will take place after the week ending Sunday 21 February and continue until the week ending Sunday 28 March with 12 customers each winning R1 000 free bets over the six weeks. And to reward customers who have updated their FICA documentation from 1 August last year to Sunday 14 February, there will be a lucky draw for three prizes of R1 000 free TAB bets.

All TAB account holders who have updated their FICA documentation since 1 August last year or who do so by Sunday 28 March will automatically be entered into the grand prize draw, in which the first TAB account holder drawn wins R10 000 free TAB bets with R5 000, R3 000 and R2 000 free bets for second, third and fourth.

It’s easy for TAB account holders to update their FICA documentation. Simply fax a copy of your ID document (preferable) or driver’s licence and proof of residence to 0866 131 932. Alternatively e-mail scans of the necessary documents to fica@phumelela.co.zaa

For proof of residence a municipal rates and taxes invoice, a telephone account or a utility bill for electricity, a mortgage or bank statement and an official tax return or letter from SARS can be used as long as it is addressed to your actual dwelling place and not a box number.

To facilitate the process, TAB account holders are asked to ensure that they write their name, TAB account number and contact phone numbers on the first page of the fax or scan. Prize winners will be notified telephonically.

This is typical of "P". Why not start with an announcement about FICA itself.What does "up to date" mean insofar as this release?
I have had a telebet account for some 20 years and supplied documents,per FICA, along time ago and was assured that it was a one-off.
Does that mean,being a long time customer,I do not qualify,or does it mean they want me to re-submit documentation?
So the announcement is arse about face............lets hope Attenborough gets replaced with somebody with half a brain.

This is amazing.Incentives are offered to the customers when PGE want something from us.Why no incentives simply for the sake of offering incentives.As you say,just more of the usual crap.

Rob,just like you I think my FICA update was done a million years ago,so we'll just have to watch from the sidelines on this one methinks.

On the subject of FICA

I dont have a home delivery only a po box for electricity etc

Had to open an Edgars account to have it sent to my home, took it to the bank with dog teeth marks and this was accepted. If you consider have had a bond with the bank for 20 years and the staff know me they deduct money from me to pay for the house I live in but it was all in vain.

Get yourself an Edgars card and you will have no problems

Maybe like R350 for opening a new account.I have seen these type of offers previously,but I don't have accounts so I have no idea how they work.They need to entice me somehow.

JAP I am sure they did at the time its now paid off, but to ad insult to injury one of the kids had the same problem and I proudly gave them the dog eaten bill.
It was rejected as it was over 3 months old!

Has anyone ever topped themselves trying to get FICA approval?

Fica and neighbourhood booms are coupled on the tote...they only inconvenience law abiding citizens....criminals would not be slowed down an inch by either!
Back to TAB tho....why does every one of their media releases result in more questions than answers...they just don't have a clue.

This not a P problem - Think about how the cellphone networks do the same thing - offer compos to new clients only and for new fica registrations.
