Its about time we had some decent racing up here on the Highveld, hope the weather does not spoil it
I like the Tarry double : Beta/Ice Pirate
The feature event look very competitive imo.

Yeah the results were BLACK in PE today.
I guess you have to have those days as well.
SOmebody told me a long time ago.....When they race at a track and then switch back to the alternative track after a while, the results are always HORRIBLE.
They have been racing at Arlington for a while and today....back to Fairview......BOOM....no shake the room....shake my bank balance

Laird, De Kock can clean up in Turffontein feature races
NICCI GARNER - Trainer Charles Laird’s string is off the boil, but the stable can start simmering again at Turffontein on Saturday when it could provide punters with two Pick 6 bankers - Curved Ball in the Tony Ruffel Stakes and Adorable in the Three Troikas Stakes.
Curved Ball will have to defy a penalty in the 1450m Grade 3 race, but is on the upgrade and has won his last three races in a row. One of those successes came in the Dingaans over 1600m on the standside track where he beat Galileo’s Galaxy by 1.25 lengths.
He is 4kg worse off with his stable companion, which on paper should see Galileo’s Galaxy reversing the form. However, in the interim Galileo’s Galaxy has taken a trip to Cape Town for the Guineas and was given a hiding by Noordhoek Flyer, so his confidence will have been shattered.
Curved Ball went on to narrowly beat Nyakatho in the 1800m Sea Cottage Stakes, doing just enough to justify 1-5 favouritism. He may be better over further, but has won over this short middle distance before and rates the one to beat.
The horse who might upset the Laird applecart is Pierre Jourdan. The Emperors Palace Ready-To-Run winner just needed his last run when only pipped by Havasha over this course and distance. That was the first defeat of his career and he will be all out to make amends.
Adorable got within 2.50 lengths of Raihana, a horse trainer Mike de Kock rates as good as Victory Moon at this stage of her career and a winner in Dubai last week. Adorable bled in that 1450m race at Clairwood and had to be sidelined, but she has not looked back since, winning both her outings on the Highveld.
Her main rival in this 1450m G3 event might be De Kock’s Fisani, but she was not even considered for a Dubai campaign so Adorable’s form looks outstanding.
Fisani did put in a superb effort in the Ready-To-Run Cup back in November when making the running and only outgunned close home by Pierre Jourdan. Front-running tactics were again used in the Steinhoff Fillies Mile later that month but she again tired late, finishing 3.25 lengths behind Sidera in fourth. A line of form through Valley Of Rubies suggests she might have Adorable’s measure, but Laird’s runner probably has more improvement to come.
Previously unbeaten Queen Mira and Fisani’s stablemate Flirtation could fill the frame.
Two other feature races, the Acadia Handicap and the Wolf Power Handicap, will be run and De Kock could be the trainer to follow in both.
He saddles three runners in the 1600m Acadia Handicap (G3). Milk And Honey looks the right one, although she will be ridden by Anton Marcus while local stable rider Anthony Delpech will partner three-year-old Laverna.
Delpech’s mount is highly rated by the stable and won the Thekwini Fillies Stakes over 1600m at Clairwood last season, but has shown limitations as a three-year-old.
Milk And Honey, on the other hand, ran their stablemate Mother Russia to 1.75 lengths in the Ipi Tombe Challenge over the standside 1600m last month and need only repeat that run on the tighter inside track to win.
Topweight Prestic makes her comeback from a 217-day rest, but if anywhere near a peak will trounce this field.
De Kock’s Rudra and Havasha both have outstanding winning chances in the 1600m Wolf Power Handicap with the latter preferred.

Not sure about the Greyville card, looks very open in my opinion with lots of rain and most trainers not able to prepare their horses?
The same can be said for Turffontein though...
