Once again......If the powers that be read this site.

CONSIDER SEASONAL RACING!!!!!!!!!!

What is the point of scheduling racing and just about never finishing a race meeting or abandoning them because of too much rain?!?!!??

I'm sure all the trainers could do with a 2 month break to re group and if they want to race they can raid PE, Kimberley wherever......ALL the top horses need a break anyway.

Racing during December/January on the highveld is like kissing your sister....NEVER a good idea!

just my opinion

Yeah Greg, that would work too. I think Mr.H has also spoken about this before....

You don't even need it as early as 9AM, but rather 10AM or 11AM and finish near 3PM or so...........

Its not rocket science boys.....just plain commom sense

Thanks for the info Scotia,

Another prime example of trying to save everything after the fact and not having some forethought.

I'm sure making these decisions are a lot tougher than I make it out to be, but still......

Somebody must be able to make sense of these decisions.

Having spent as much time at race courses around the globe waiting to see if it is going to rain, I would just like to say that the weather in the racing capitals of the world all are under the same unpredictable watches. Today in the United States racing was canceled in the Northeast, where they had the biggest snowfall in 90 years, and Los Angeles, where yet another big rain storm caused mudslides in the foothills just above the track.

I lived in those mountains and, in one 4 year period, we had earthquate, flood and fire. For reasons known only to scientists we missed plague and famine (especially me!).

It is a problem everywhere.

But I too have often wondered by the big races of the day are not run earlier to avoid the chance of evening thunderstorms, and why racing doesn't start at 10 in the morning. I am sure the church going crowd would protest, but most of them shy away from the wickets anyway.

In Ireland the priests might protest, but it would be because they might miss the daily double at The Curragh!

Good morning Barry, so maybe we should consider a few breakfast meetings?
Must say fancy a fun day/ brunch day starting early at Randjies.
Its 7.30 here and the sun is shining, we could have the braai's going bacon rolls a glass of champers and our first punt at 9.00

The perfect family Sunday.

Horses train in the morning. People (most I would hope) eat breakfast. Would be worth a try.
