I feel old, sometimes get bitter and my wife says I'm twisted.
I think I have all my bases covered!!

In reality I can't complain too much about horseracing....It gives me too much pleasure, in every sense....Well except my bank balance!!

Tommy I really think PE racing is on the up big time(I know some people have told me the stables and owner facilities are not up to scratch)The horses look happy and the going must be kinder on the horses as so many unsound types do well there. The competion seems stronger in the lower divisions also and the extreme dominance of the Greeff and Smith yards seems to have been broken with Paddock and Steenkamp(Agrella/sham) and Wiese yards coming to the fore recently. Kotzen, Ramsden and Snaith are no fools and some of their horses do exceptionally well after a few raids to PE. I'm enjoying the racing there lately as the races also seem to be run at a true pace as opposed to the Cape Crawl.

Hey Elvis, Have you checked that ticket yet?

For myself, stabling costs would deter me from buying the number of horses you mention; I would try to acquire 2 colts with sire potential (would probably need to go and shop overseas) and 3 fillies with paddock potential and matching pedigrees to the colts. Cost would not be a criterium (but value for money would); I would give one colt to Mike Bass in the Cape and the rest to Roy to be trained close to home at Randjies.

I would look for a piece of land (or an established farm) where I would be able to send these horses after retirement - hopefully also a place where other mares can board.

When these first 5 start to race I would hopefully be able to use the income generated to get 3 more filles each year for a couple of years and then start to race my own stock.

And then I woke up and smelled the coffee!

Would try and get myself a few Victory Moon's especially fillies and send them to the Cape, Mike Bass would be my 1st choice by miles, Stan Elley also a good horseman no other trainers would come close to my loot and I wouldn't send any on fancy buying sprees around the world. Finally would open a retirement home for horses without pension plans so as to avoid the R5.00/Kilo we could get at the Zoo.

I would use the 28 mill to bribe corrupt government official to get a couple of billion rand tenders to supply roads to towns that dont exist.

Or send horsies to colin Scott and Allison Wright, Mitch Wiese. JHB racing calendar is a mess better racing Calendar in DBN and Eastern Cape

Hi Frodo, yes I've checked my ticket, but sadly I won't be buying 30 + horses.
( Listen if you had 28 mil, who worries about the training fees - the interest earned alone will see you through the traing fees, plus you bound to pick up regular cheques as Mr Shirtliff does... bloody regularly )

Could only afford shares in a 2 y.o. VAR colt at this stage - new trainer !
