Imagine an organization(sic)that would allow a multi-million t/o event to depend on a damn bus, with no PLAN B in place, especially seeing as bus problems to Flamingo were not "sudden and unforseen"

Without appearing to sound like a man with great vision and not knowing the figures related to a cancelled meeting?
How many cancelled meeting would it cost to have a FREE bus?

A fairly simple idea would be to hire two buses. The back up or 'redundant' bus can simply follow a few minutes behind and would have paid for itself the first time bus A broke down.

Any sensible meeting, chaired by any sensible manager with the supplier of the transport would ask the question "what happens if the bus fails" ANSWER:the meeting would be abandoned.....unacceptable......perhaps change to a spaced convoy of mini busses so that if one fails,in the emergency situation, the occupants could be ferried by the remaining vehicles &/or some other contingency plan.
More epensive?..quite possibly but treat the cost as insurance against an abandonment.
I have expressed my contempt for "P"s management and continue to do so...they are a joke!

Rob and I are on the same page here. A back-up vehicle or vehicles (if we are really lucky) would not only make it far less likely that a meeting has to be lost because of transport problems, but is a good idea from a security standpoint as well.
The road to Kimberley travels through some of the most deserted territory in the country and a breakdown on the return journey as things currently stand would leave all these people stranded in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. Not to mention that in winter the temperature drops to minus plenty in that part of the world. If a convoy of sorts is what it takes to safely traverse this semi-wilderness in safety, then no further thought should be necessary. It must be done, and it's not as though Phumelela don't have the money. (Gold Circle would be another matter altogether).
A fleet of Toyota Land Cruisers may do the trick. According to Jeremy Clarkson, at any rate, those things never go wrong and are hugely popular in the Australian outback - which is about the last place on earth that you want to experience car trouble!
