What's a vuvuzela?!

Some would say it's South Africa's national musical instrument. It's a big plastic trumpet, brightly coloured, and is blown with gusto by all fans at every football match in the country. The sound it makes is something between the bellow of a constipated elephant and the buzzing of a giant swarm of baritone bees, but South Africans like it.

Just a piece of shit that make noise

Vuvuzela is the name of our Soccer Betting Guide Tipster in GAME ON!!!

AS for the noise one, its going to make the world stand up and take notice- but look on the bright side guys, it wont make it past the group stages at the WC.

LOL

Fitting definition, Sylvester; good on you JasonD for looking at the bright side; I for one will probably catch glimpses of the Bafana games in 'mute' mode - the world can take notice but I won't!

Is it not time for you all to go out and buy a Bafana Shirt, a vuvuzela and get behind your national team or are darker compatriots the only ones who have a sense of national pride. Would it make certain sectors of South Africa proud to see them fail perhaps?

All colours across the rainbow united behind an iconic symbol of old SA and our first world cup rugby heroes (They too were touted as being below average at the time). SA Soccer has little or no negative symbolism attached to it. Perhaps the blackness of the bulk of our players is symbolic enough for some. We as a nation, especially white SA, need to show unity instead of clutching on to scarey, dead political views and backward thinking.

Get behind you team and blow that Vuvuzela!

Check out www.blatant.co.za/2009/06/pop/confederations-fu-cup/ for some...erm..interesting views on the vuvuzela. The article is against, but the replies in the comments section are both for and against.
