Wasn't there a horse called "Hawaii"or "Mr. Hawaii"(no disrespect to our great poster here LOL) that sold for a record price at the yearling sales. I think Martin Locke was involved but I can't remember......

It never even saw the race track, or if it did it ran stone last!!!

I guess these things happen.

Then there was the Devines who bought Jet Master as a baby for like R20,000??? Look at what he has earned and what he is worth!!!

The luck of the draw I guess!!!

Mr Hawaii won first time out but kind of went backwards after that and never won again. Had problems, I think. Hawaii, on the other hand, was a champion.

Yes Mike Azzie had Mr Hawaai and they made a huge event of the maiden win.

Georgie the Greek and myself for our baby Breathless, did the same, bus to the big T with all our friends and family it won the last race at 15/10, we all went mad.
Eventually woke up the following day, bought the Sunday Times a big article on the back page "A Scot gets lucky" from Francois Wolfhart, with the full story on how we bought the R2000 purchase lot "29"

great memories

Thanks MAgic,

I knew there was some story about a record priced yearling called "Mr. Hawaii".

These things happen in racing.

How did the rest of Breathless's career pan out Dave??

I remember we owned a filly in partnership in 1992/3/4. She started 5 times for 4 wins and a 4th........

Very few things in this world can compare to the excitement of owning a good horse!!

Apart from Clan Classique do you still own other horses?

A small share in Slumdog Oscar
plus one in Durban that will not race again.
Might have a look at bidahorse.

maybe 2 grand is the lucky number?
