Celebration Mile

Mike De Kock had Imbongi entered for this race and im a bit dissapointed he`s not running.

Small field of 7 turn up ( Mac Love and Zacinto were supplemented for £10k)for the Grp2 Celebration Mile over 1600M(obv) at Goodwood.

On paper it looks a match race between DELEGATOR and the lightly raced ZACINTO and are trading at 1/1 and 6/4 respectively.

DELEGATOR has the form in the book and will take a bit of beating if he copes with Goodwoods undulations,a repeat of his runs when second to both Sea the Stars and Mastercraftsman both over 1600m would be far too good for Saturdays rivals.

Having said that he looked to be travelling the best in both above mentioned races and the mile might just be an 100m too far for him?

1/1
looks to be a decent value and the easier 1600m at Goodwood will suit him imo...LUMP!!

Connections of Delegator expect a big run from the 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes runner-up in the totesport.com Celebration Mile at Goodwood on Saturday.

The son of Dansili makes his debut for the in-form Godolphin operation after proving himself one of the best milers around under the care of Brian Meehan.

Only the mighty Sea The Stars finished in front of him at Newmarket in May, while it was Mastercraftsman who denied him at Royal Ascot.

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor said: "Frankie (Dettori) rode him in work earlier this week and I was very happy with him. He is in good form and ready to go

"He has shown little things since we got him that suggest he is getting better.

"He has shown plenty of speed in his work and seven furlongs may suit him better in time."

Delegator storms to Celebration success

Report: Goodwood, Saturday

Totesport.com Celebration Mile (Group 2) 1m, 3yo+

DELEGATOR justified being sent off the 4-6 favourite when showing a stylish turn of foot to land the spoils under Frankie Dettori on his debut for Godolphin.

The three-year-old boasted the best form in the field following seconds in both the Stan James.com 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last time, and Dettori was content to sit behind Ordnance Row, who set a sedate early pace.

There was little change in the running order for the first six furlongs of the contest, with Dane O'Neill dictating terms up front, while Zacinto and Ryan Moore sat to his outside.

Moore, who was chasing a treble on the card, got first run on the leader and hit the front with a furlong left to race, while Dettori briefly found himself trapped on the inside on the favourite.

However, as soon as Delegator was switched to the outside of the two leaders, he quickly cut them down for a one-and-a-half-length victory. Paddy Power reacted to the victory by cutting Delegator to 7-1 from 10-1 for the Breeders' Cup Mile.

Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said: "He's a really top horse and we were hoping to see him win like that, but you never know when it's a horse's first run for a new stable as sometimes they don't run as well. He's a good horse, though, and we're looking forward to seeing him this year and next year.

"It'll be the QEIInext and then the Breeders' Cup Mile - that's the plan. Santa Anita would suit him well and that could be a good race for him - we'd be worried about Goldikova, but that's what horse racing is about - matching one good one against another."

Zacinto, sent off at 5-2, finished second, while long-time leader Ordnance Row held on for third at 33-1.
